Is there a cure for corruption?

We all know it exists everywhere and to a large extent in pakistan, but what can we actually do to remove it? Is it because people lack moral and ethical values that they become corrupt or is it because of their circumstances which forces them to do so. I’ll give you an example; a police officer in pakistan on average makes about 3000 rupees a month, which is peanuts considering the level of inflation in the country. A person like this usually has a large family to support and make ends meet, so would taking bribes be justified? One of the obvious solutions would be to increase their salaries but our government lacks the resources to do so. So what can be done to tackle corruption??

Re: Is there a cure for corruption?

^^ education

Re: Is there a cure for corruption?

self accountability.
owning up to one's own mistakes.
& impartial reasoning to always be professional and honest in one's work.

Re: Is there a cure for corruption?

Religious education is the cure in my opinion.

Re: Is there a cure for corruption?

Not Fully Religious education but secular education too so we can advance in other fields too, such as science and technology.

and especially for pakistanis we cant just rely on abdul qadeer khan for his works but we need more geniouses.

Re: Is there a cure for corruption?

yes

ppl limit themselves to their work,AND for heavenz sake try NOT to interfere in otherz matter. wait for there turn and stop giving out moneys if some one asks for it (un ki thukai ker dain if they ask for bribe)

Re: Is there a cure for corruption?

Religious education doesnt stop you from studying and mastering other skills. Corruption is directly related to moral and ethics. Religious thus in my opinion is absolute essential

Re: Is there a cure for corruption?

Well to my knowledge the salary of Constable in Punjab province is 7000+, but nothing improved rather getting worst.
So low salary seems not to be basic reason of corruption.

I guess it is our behaviour which encoruages corruption. we need to change that, right now, if anyone have to suffer from corrupts, all we do is stand and watch, not buying the reality that we can or are next. what happend to one can happen to other as well. we only cry when it happens to us.

Need to change that, Stand for others, specially the for one who cannot stand for themselves.

The Corrupt person is one of the most coward persons i have ever seen, they have so many weak spots, attack any of them, make them suffer.

Like if WASA of one area dont do what they suppose to do it, throw it back to their face, hire a pickup, get all garbage and throw it the sector incharge office or house.
If Police officer is not listening or asking for bribe, fax the name of officer and station to all the news papers.

dont let ur brothers, sisters, children hangout with corrupt persons siblings, ana tell them the reason.

things will not change overnight, but if we start today, may be our children will have better agr then we do.

a silver bullet will help.

Re: Is there a cure for corruption?

First of all we have to figure out the root cause of corruption, when it started happening & reasons? When I was analysing I found some reasons

1) Satisfaction: In Pakistan no one is satisfied, a person who is earning 7000 or 70,000 all are complaining.

2) Accountability: No accountability system, & if there is one they themselves are corrupt because they are part of big corrupt system.

3) Education: Out statistics show 47% literacy rate, that an other example of corruption, I dont think apart from big cities anyone is literate at all, my rough idea is still around 25%. We all know the reasons of people not being educated in PK, so I wont go into that detail.

4) Blames: Other things I have realised that in Pakistan people never accept responsibility, they always blame others but no one does a good part. So do need to tell people to take responsibilities & act rather than others to act beofre them.

5) State Efforts:
Actually if we see closely we realise that the some of above points are implemented by the State but in Pakistan there is no such thing. State mentioned Rs.3600 as minimum salary, I ask that Finance minister to show me how can he spend one week in Rs.3600 happily in Pakistan. If a mechanic is earning 3600 per month of course he will take his 5 years old child with him to make more money because in his books his child will be expert mechanic by 15 & make same money. Sending him to school means low income plus paying school fee is "Ghaatay ka sauda for them".

State opens a school but local Feudal Lord or Zimindar makes sure that no one goes to school, that must be changed.

State should first provide all the facilities to citizens with full adherence of accountability system i.e. to check whats happening at each step. Not like Anti Corruption who go to arrest for bribe & the officer who is taking bribe shares his bribe with Anti Corruption officer & both end up happy & the petitioner eventaully pays more bribe.

But a million Dollar question: Who will do all that? Since we are all corrupt or people with dead conscience anyway.

Re: Is there a cure for corruption?

no really, education would do a lot of good
