PML N only got 19% of the votes in the Feb 18 elections. It came third place in the center, second place in Punjab, and nowhere really to be seen in the other provinces.
That's one true fact....
Nawaz League stood 3rd in popular vote at 19%.. even PML-Q had 21%.
Any alliance between PPP and PML (N) will just be a marriage of convenience. In the long run they are rivals, and any alliance will only be temporary until the removal of Musharraf.
Yeah. Do not forget what elected PMs like Nawaz Shareef did to CJs in past. Its all about the best available option for people.
Atleast NS was an elected leader who still enjoys support as evident by the elections, while I do not appreciate his actions in the past esp. on the crackdown on Sajjad Ali Shah, he offered an apology and is sticking to principles right now, and I am glad he resigned. Can the illegitimate dictator offer an apology to the nation too? And what best option are you talking about, 8 years of misery?
Yeah. Do not forget what elected PMs like Nawaz Shareef did to CJs in past. Its all about the best available option for people.
Right...That's the case , the best available option and this is where the faults of Pakistani poltics lies. I remember the day in 1999 when people distributed sweets and danced on the streets of Lahore and Karachi when NS was ousted. Then everybody was ready to hang Nawaz Sharif to the pole for his crimes. Now when you want to restore the judges etc you are ready to make him the king again.
Yes, offering an apology clearly means he has changed.
Still better than a dictator who proudly announces how powerful he is by showing his 'bazoo' in the air after murdering a bunch of people in Karachi on May 12th, 2007.

do u remember when Nawaz Shareef, used to hold 'darbars' on live TV, and fires people on spot after hearing people's complaints. Do you think Judiciary had any role there. Yeah for once, he is sticking to principles and resigning, and thats why I can say he is not the worst of all.

Sure, but the people still voted for him, as they abhor anyone who comes and self imposes himself, now you were complaining that we should respect the MQM because it gets the people's vote, with that logic, you better stay quiet and accept the people's mandate when they voted for Nawaz. Dont show these acting like victim double standards please.

I have no problem with anybody voting for him. I am just making a point, as to why I find it disturbing when he talks about free judiciary. Whether its PMLN or MQM, as long as people are voting for them, they deserve their seats. To me Nawaz is a psuedo dictator, his party name has his name in it, so there is virtually no chance for anyone to become its head. Nevertheless I have to respect people's vote, but this does not mean that I should change my vote.

Robert bhai, why do you have a problem when he talks about free judiciary. Firstly, are you against free judiciary? Secondly the PEOPLE who voted for him voted for him because during the elections his stance was clear cut, he would bring back the free judiciary. Now if no one else is willing to take up such a stance, he'd get the votes, so he has to stay afloat on this issue.

Talking about dictatorships, if people have a problem with his party's dictatorship, they wouldnt vote for him, they are given a choice, thats democracy baby. Doesnt this ditatorship exist in PPP and MQM (in a PM you admitted you support it and its leader), so why single him out? Also, was our president democratically elected?
NS principles are motivated by political gain not because of integrity, only a blind man cannot see that.
This is something we learned eons ago, no one in politics is working for their honor or goodwill, they all have their political gains, thats politics, you take stands based on that.

Exactly, so then anyones stance is not apreciable unless it is for bringing prosperity to the country irrespective if they get voted into the drivers seat or just take over.

It is, its like saying a cup of water wont do you any good because the person who got you did it only because he was paid to do so. He (NS) could have easily dodged the issue like Zardari and stuck in the Federal Govt, but he did this, and now it puts more pressure on the Govt to seek a problem for this deadline, which further weakens the roots of the dictatorship.

Tell me name of one politician who says he is against free judiciary. Its not what they say, its what they do, shows their stand.
Secondly the PEOPLE who voted for him voted for him because during the elections his stance was clear cut, he would bring back the free judiciary. Now if no one else is willing to take up such a stance, he'd get the votes, so he has to stay afloat on this issue.
For once, he kept his words and resigned.

I will not dispute that MQM and PPP heads consider themselves absentee lords (or atleast have considered that in past). Its okay for Musharraf though as you know what you are getting. He is(was) a dictator, who was not answerable to people (unlike elected politicians), yet he did more for the country, than all of the them combined.

Lets start with Altaf Hussain shall we? Remember how he acted like he was against the removal of the CJ (the MQM werent showeing their all out support for Musharraf back then). Just yesterday I saw another croonie Sheikh Rashid blabbering about how no one can touch the puppet judges they have instated right now. Need I go on? And please dont tell me Dogar etc represent a free judiciary

Yeah, I wish for certain politicians, this 'once' would show up too.

MQM and PPP are dictatorships, with your definition since you only seem to bring up PML[N] for some reason when citing that. I personally dont have problems with that, as the people have the option NOT to vote for them. As far as Mush doing stuff for the country yeah right, unprecedented economic slump, electricity shortage, terrorism, suicide bombings, multiple internal war fronts and civil war threats, shortage of food, destroying free institutions, compromising our dignity and sovereignty, I can go on and on..
