is the really Equality?

if Islam is all about equality then how come:

  • men can marry as many women as they want but women cant marry as many men as they want?
*women have to cover their faces, hair or their whole bodies but men dont???

ohh the subject was supposed to be IS THIS REALLY EQUALITY..hehee…::blush::

Your first question has been discussed heaps of times, look into the forums..

Second one....

Men have to cover and dress modestly too,

"for the men, the awrah is defined as the area between the navel and the knees.'

1.Man should fully cover his awrah.
2.Men's clothes should be loose enough so as not to describe the color of the skin he is covering (his 'awrah)
3. They should be thick enough so as not to describe the color of the skin or the required parts covered.
4. They should not be designed in a way to attract attention.
The basic rule of modesty and avoiding 'show off' applies to all believers men and women.

The three other additional requirements discussed under the Muslim womans code of dress apply to men's clothes as well:
1. They should not be similar to what is known as the female dress.
2. They should not be similar to what could be identified as the dress of unbelievers.
3. They should not be clothes of fame, pride and vanity.

In addition to the above limitations on the Muslim man's clothes, men are not allowed to wear silk and gold. The does not apply to women. "

extract is from 'The Muslim Woman's Dress' By Jamal A Badawi.

hmmm comparing men and women is like comparing apples and oranges...and asking which fruit has been made superior...men and women are different and have different rights and duties but Allah swt has said that there will be justice for all human beings

Tsk Tsk, Don’t be intimidated by these nice looking ladies. Why men make women to cover them from head to toe? why not just the parts of the body which should be coverd But not like the women here in London coverd (I mean Really) from head to toe with only a slit for seeing and breathing(I assume). I really feel sorry for these Girls and feel angry at Muslim Men who make them do this.

what sort of equality????

women go though nine months of labor and men enjoy themselves always....
women go through a tough week every month, an men nothing....
etc etc etc

nature just isnt fair....

so stop whining....

Mate, Tsk Tsk is not talking about Natural differences in Men and Women. She is talking about how women are treated by Men in every day life affairs. She is talking about Women being told what to do, where to go where NOT to go, what to wear and what NOT to wear. and at the same time Men do everthing they want to. Is that what Islam teaches you???

Please.

Muslim women who do cover up fully from head to toe, do it out of their own choice.

I know, women who have divorced their husbands, because their husbands would not allow them to cover their faces.

Allaah has told the men of this Nation to:

“and live with them honourably” an-Nisa’ 4:19.

And the Prophet Sallallaahu 'Alayhi Was-Sallam said: “And treat women with kindness - And treat women with kindness.”

And he also said:

“The best of you is the one who is best to his womenfolk, and I am the best of you to my womenfolk.”

The Messenger, always discussed matters his wives and took their opinions. And one example of this can be seen when he consulted Umm Salamah about what had happened at al-Hudaybiyyah. He took her advice and acted upon it.

The most important status amongst the family in Islam is the status of a mother! She deserves the most respect and obedience.

So, please stop with your falsehood.

Just becuase some Muslim men don't follow the Correct Way of treating their women, does not mean that it is part of Islam.

Men do everything they want i don't think so. Men are not allowed to do certain things and same goes for women you should read about islam more carefully rather than making wholesale comments against men and women.
