is the Love for Technology more than Love for Humanity & Relationships?

This is probably very strange and confusing question. Although i just recently thought of it. I hope i manage to explain it in here.

About a while back.. before facebook & twitter & Google+ ruled the world.. i remember i use to have long discussions with my friends.. with long i mean around couple of hours easily depending upon how free i was. We use to meet and use to have chit chat in a garden or strolling in the streets or at someone’s place. Freinds use to have fights also but friendship use to stay strong and lasting.

Now fast forward to current era, we have so many technologies which we believe that are for keeping contact with friends and bond more strongly but i feel it has resulted in inverse reaction. Now a person logs onto his favorite networking site and start chatting or talking with who ever he/she finds.

Now imagine couple of scanerios,

Suppose your best friend is not on your social networking site, now will you still give him same amount of time as you u use to give.? Like having long plentiful conversation at some place.?

Now suppose your best friend is on your social networking site, but he/she comes online at a different time than yours. So wot normally happens is that one friend start having a different set of people as friend and other start having a different set of people as friends.. and these two best friends just grow apart. Now this is perfectly fine but the issue i see is that people dont try to keep friendship or relationships. They just feel that its not worth trying for anyone. Which i think is a bit too casual behavior.

Now take another extreme example.. suppose you are on a social networking site and you just make a light fun on your friend by posting some comment or anything on your friend, now wot normally happens is that someone else will also post a comment and then it will start a small grouping in which you and your best friend might be in opposite group.. Now the difference in social networking fights and earlier fight is that in earlier fights friend use to come back and apologize or some how make the friendship like before… but in now a days fight people just move on.. because really there are millions of people and at any given time a large number of people are ready to befriend you or flirt with you. So one feels “So what if he/she is not talking with me, I have tens of others liking & commenting on my posts”.

I feel that this internet social networking generation love technology and not relationships or humanity. We are friends to those who are part of this social network and who remain part of the social network we are on. The moment they leave the social network circle of ours they no longer remain our best friends and ultimately even our friends. We seriously need to think and reflect that is this the right approach. I am not saying it is wrong. But i am just wandering loudly, is it the right approach. So technology be more important than the relationships.

The reason maybe we are drifting away from our family and close friends is that we are more in love with the social network then the relationships & people we should be loving.

I am not sure if i have been clear in conveying my thoughts.. But they were just late night before sleep thoughts.. Hope to see some good replies on it.
