I know what you are saying. I meant that whatever is required to reduce/eliminate honor killing is probably out of the reach of Chinoy, though she has met with Sharif couple of years ago to figure out how to strengthen the law to prevent this crime in Pakistan.

Btw, this women right bill that just became the law, does it say anything about honor killing? I haven’t read the details of it.

Honour killing is a first degree murder in Pakistan and punishment for murder in Pakistan is death penalty or life imprisonment. So there are laws, you just need convictions! Start punishing fathers, brothers, uncles, husbands who kill women in the name of honour as murderers, and you’ll start to make some progress towards eliminating the evil. Sharemeen would agree with me on that!

In UK we don’t have any special ‘laws’ or ‘punishment’ for passion crimes because when they go to court, they are just treated as murders, but depending on the case and the quality of the lawyer, it can be decided whether it was a first degree murder or second. But really. it’s just seen as murders which is exactly how honour killings need to be viewed and treated in Pakistan.
