Re: is peshawar as bad as they say it is...on the media
Yes there are all those but you just close your mind to them and live on.....yes families are shifting to Islamabad, pindi and Lahore if they can.
Re: is peshawar as bad as they say it is...on the media
From talking to my parents recently , yes things have gotten much worse and ppl r trying to move out if they can.......
Re: is peshawar as bad as they say it is...on the media
Peshawar elite already get out, they mostly settled in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi & Dubai.

Not really wine !
A lot of the ppl are still in Peshawar and do not intend to move out . Yes , I guess if U have the resources you would want to keep ur family safe but its not easy to just up and relocate.
**My own family is still there and though Dad has considered shifting , I don't think that he will unless it becomes a situation where day to day activites get affected. So far though things are bad politically , ppl are still going about their daily activites as much as normal as possible. **
**Of course one has to try to make sure to take precautions , avoid certain areas and travel during times that are safer.........but relocating is not easy when ur family ,sons and daughters are all settled in Peshawar. **
No it is not. life for most "normal" Peshawaris moves on. There has been no noticeable drop in the population of the city. Sheyn is right, day to day activities of most are not affected yet.
If anyone moves out it will be more liberal, elite, educated, "burger" families. Even most of the elite it still in Peshawar. They will move out first as theyhave the most to lose and the best chance of escaping abroad, ie like Afghanistan.
Some of my friends from richer backgrounds have become more wary andare reporting to their parents about their whereabouts more than ever before. The friends I have from lower income groups have not adopted such measures yet and in reality looking at this moment in time, they are right too.
There are bomb blasts but they may not even be weekly and when they happen will just affect a small area and not the whole city. Kidnappings are not a new phenomena to Peshawar city, the have happened for a long long time. The numbe rof people being kidnapped may not have gone up but it may look a lot more because of the media coverage. Maybe thats because security has been tightened in Peshawar and the well-to-do areas have walled themselves in.
The media lives off sensationalist news stories. There is a threat of Taliban and law and order has deteriorated but life moves on. Some people will still have to arrive at times where its dark and the city sleeping and very few are probably troubled.
Given what I know and experienced of Peshawar I would not go out late especially if close to the outskirts of the city. other than that I would not stop visiting busy places, going out to eat at well known places etc.
