Is Pakistani culture dominated by Hindu religion?

Re: Is Pakistani culture dominated by Hindu religion?

yes it is.

Re: Is Pakistani culture dominated by Hindu religion?

Exactly, we do that, but when one leave good things from his own culture to adopt other culture’s glittering but bad practices, than they are more likely to be a prey of inferiority complex. For instance, hindu women observing purdah is akin to adopting good culture. Muslims adopting practice of expansive marriages is an example of borrowing bad practice of hindus.

Re: Is Pakistani culture dominated by Hindu religion?

Here is a list ( not supposed to be exhaustive) of potential negative influence of Hinduism

  1. was watching Babul - Om Puri did not want his widowed bahu or daughter to attend a family wedding. I think that is plain wrong and sad
  2. as a child, I would watch my father going to office. Before stepping out mother would scan the area. If a widow was seen coming from opposite direction father would be asked to wait. If a sumangali was seen he would be encouraged to step out. Good shagunam.
  3. when Ee return from barber shop we were asked not to touch any clothing in house. Apparently clothes are good conductors of touch remnants from low caste barber.
  4. most temple priests are brahmins. They may choose not to touch certain folks.
  5. boys are a treasure
  6. girls should take care of household work
  7. if you are fair, life is easier. God forbid you are a dark girl.
  8. Gita overall is good. One verse I take issue with: if you are a low caste and do a Brahmins work, you have sinned. Reverse true also.
  9. Ekalayva was Dronas pupil. Ek was low caste. So he made statue od Drona and practised after praying to Dronas image. His reward? Arjuna asked Drona to ask Ek’s right thumb as gurudakshina. Which EK gave readily.
  10. all Rakshasas shown as dark. All degas as fair.
  11. intercaste marriage still frowned upon.

There.

Re: Is Pakistani culture dominated by Hindu religion?

To my limited understanding, most of above are manmade. Granted there are flaws. But I hear there are beautiful things one can learn from the Upanishads and the Vedas. I certainly plan to learn and imbibe as much as I can after retirement. I plan to soak in all that is good about Hinduism.

With malice towards none, peace!

Re: Is Pakistani culture dominated by Hindu religion?

but not only Hindu culture but also Western culture
