I agree. But why should Pak stick out its neck fighting the Taliban, if the US isnt willing to foot the bill, especially when its the US presence in Afghanistan thats creating the mess.
But your right, there is no justification for the rich and powerful not paying their share...

If US stop the aid, it also mean IMF, World Bank, ADB & Paris club programs will stop too. Our economy is in dire state, 60% of money goes in debt servicing. I don't think so China can do much.
We are talking about the aid that US is providing towards WOT.... IMF/WB/ADB/Paris have nothing to do with that, we are not talking about 'sanctions' here.

There are only two options, take US money and fight Taliban or fight without it. The notion, somehow not taking the US aid is going do away with the obligation of fighting terrorism is false. It's obvious US and others are going to put pressure on Pakistan to fight Terroism, at least the ones that is based in Pakistan and creating trouble in neighbouring countries (mainly Afghanistan). The pressure can come in many forms - it could be as simple as imposing trade barriers to exerting pressure through IMF/WB to outright threat of economic sanctions.
Even if it is not for their (west) pressure, it is in the interest of Pakistan to get rid of radical groups armed to teeth. Instead of acting hurt, just get more serious about getting rid of the menance and start focusing on nation building. Once this menance is done with and Pakistan has a growing economy then the west will be wanting to do business with Pakistan. Pakistan need to place its long term interest first. In order to do that, first Pakistan need to understand what is in their long term interest. Economy and institutions stupid. It is imerative to say for a moden economy, internal safety, security and stability are important building blocks and to achive this you don't need missiles with 1500 mts range or 5th generation fighter air craft. I understand, countries spend on security beyond their means, but when your soverignity is pawned, you are better off without wars.
The same goes to India too, but there are slightly better because they seems to have semblance of rule of law and their economy is growing faster and more importantly they are not at the mercy of other countries.

bhaiyo! so far till today aid never found its way to reach the real Pakistanis in need. So i guess its just an extra income of our corrupt leaders in the shape of aid. there wouldn't have been such inflation if they would have used the aid to give subsidy on different comodities and necessities around here... but one thing will be for sure if the aid got stopped, and that is, that our leaders will become even more corrupt cos they will then have an eye on the tiny bit of income we earn from our exports and local productions.

They are uSa playing its on game, threats, DO MORE, will stop this or that, well its not seems a one sided game either some time we have ball in our court and sometime they have it. survive without usa aid is not a big deal.
Almost majority of public somehow dosent want USA as our friend either enemy and if awam considered it very seriously they have to put all of energies to stand pakistan on strong economic without help of so called super powers, the landlords/polticians/few generals is not more then 10% of poplutation, remain 90% awam if want and show their interests and pay all taxex cut down to steel and burn govt. properties(actually our owns) InshaAllah WE CAN DO IT.

Ofcourse, Pakistan is only targetting TTP, what about Taliban commander Siraj Haqqani. Pakistan does nothing against those Talibans. What about Ilyas Kashmiri, and Pakistans own home grown "jihadis" who want to fight west??
Pakistan always wants to prove that Pakistan's collapse is too big a price to pay. And Pakistan increase this price by developing more and more nuclear weapons.
Pakistans nuke program is the fastest in the world today. This keeps continuous flow of dollars in Pakistan and attracts attenton of western community, to keep Pakistan stable. Becoz West cannot allow a nuclear country to fail.
Pak Fauj has adopted a nice tactic, to keep continuous flow of dollars. As usual Pak Fauj has a Napak attitude towards the drone attacks.

Kaptaan No 1 Bhai, Who has killed TTP leaders, Mehsuds, Baitullahs etc.? they were killed by drones.

According to author of book Pakistan: The Hard Country, is saying on NPR that military aid is approved by executive and civilian aid is approved by congress. $20 Billions were paid in last decade to military; civilians got zilch of aid in that period. If aid is stopped it will mostly affect the army and the ISI. Most of them have to pack up for home.
*According recent Time megazine on Pakistan, the author said when Kerry-Lugar Bill was past, it was Pakistan’s military who cried loud in corp commander’s meeting, that bill will undermine their authorities and strengthen the civilians, which will be big hinderance in future marsahallaws and adventurism. Even at present they control foreign affairs, information ministry and core intellgence organizations. *
Those private channels " fauj ke khilaf ek lafz bolnay se bhi in ki phat-ti hay" As they immediately get threat text messages for withdrawing advertisements from their channels with other consequences.

I sincerely feel that Pakistan along with NATO should and will get rid of the proxy armies created in Pakistan and Afghanistan. Afghnistan should have an army just like Pakistan or India.
And I strongly support Jinnahs dream that relations of India Pakistan will be like US canada.
