I flipped though my passport and the Pak Visa seal shows it is an Islamic Republic. so it is an Islamic Republic.

Re: Is Pakistan an Islamic Republic?

How do you define an Islamic republic ? And which country could be called an Islamic republic ?

Re: Is Pakistan an Islamic Republic?

Each country has a different notion. Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan...the commonality is a republican poltical structure, with a clause in the consitution citing Islam as a source of law, if not the penultimate source of law.

Re: Is Pakistan an Islamic Republic?

All of these countries that you quoted are very different from each other, with perhaps the only commonality being that the predominant religion is Islam. How then would you define an "Islamic republic" ? Or are we saying that the definition is broad enough to accomodate a wide variety of politico-religious systems ?
