Quit taking my post out of context. I was only stating that creatures that are higher on the food chain also carry a high risk of parasites. But as far as the ocean is concerned, things are different.
not taking anything out of context, just stating that infact land animals that do eat other animals are halal and gave the example of a chicken. so there is more to it than just the statement. no argument here, just further elaboration so you and everyone else can think about it :)
secondly, if parasites are present in herbivores and then the herbivores are eaten by a carniovore and I eat the carnivore I get parasites, well I would get parasites by eating te herbivore as well since the herbivoe has parasites.
Now if the point is more about toxic buildup, then there can be a point, however in that case fish eat smaller fish and at each level the toxins build up and it is an issue.
just having a discussionm we can agree, we can disagree, we can debate issues, question..etc etc. No harm no foul mon ami :)

I read that everything that does not look like a traditional fish is makrooh ...
... which actually makes Shark and Whale non makrooh (halal that is)

But people don't see that... All they actually want to prove is how "righteous" they themselves are. And thus are now resorting to word catching.
I seem to be the only one over here in this thread who addressed the real issue - Which was that as long as the original paster was unaware of what she was eating, she is not guilty of any sin.

Not exactly true my friend.
A person has responsibility of knowing what he/she is eating. Not knowing is not an excuse.
Besides I already had mentioned liking/disliking (personal choice) is another issue.
Why do I see similarity in both red sentences? :)

There is one more aspect which I'm suprised no one has pointed out or may be I misread.
According to some confident Islamic resources, the sea creators which eat food with their legs are NOT halal... and as per that rule octopus may not be halal. I think they include shrimps in that as well cuz that was the discussion when I came to know about it.
I'm not that islamic to validate or invalidate this logic, just putting forward in case you want to know.

Not now as it was a serious verbal discussion that I'm referring to, but I can contact them back and ask for the source if you want.

Jo cheezein Allah nay or Rasool Pak nay jaiz or halal karar di un ka apnana, jin say mana kia gaya un say ruk jana or jin k baray mein koi hukam nai yani shak hai k jaiz ya halal hai ya nai un say door rehna hi behtar hai.
