Is octopus meat halal?

Not sure… But generally speaking, I don’t recall anything in seafood being harram. On land, we don’t eat animals that eat other animals - Simply because the higher one goes up the food chain, the more chances of encountering parasite in that animal’s meat.

In the ocean, there are hardly any such parasites. Which is why some say that even meat eating sea creatures are alright to eat (eating shark fin soup for example, which is available in Karachi). However as a general rule of thumb, simply don’t eat any creature that eats other creatures. Therefore consume the meat of herbivores only. And birds that only eat seeds, and other green stuff. I am not sure about birds that eat insects, but here too - I think we are allowed to eat grasshoppers (locust) in Islam.

chicken eat worms and bugs and would eat even mice, frogs etc..
so by your logic chicken is not allowed?
