Perhaps he didn't like the rough duff music. He may have liked Qawwali. Similarly there are 100s of different styles and forms of music.

Prophet pbuh would have liked to drive the car (if it was available at his time),
Then perhaps he might have liked beat it by Michael Jackson if it was available back then.
There is no way you can draw a general conclusion based on a very limited sample of music back then.
As you admit that you listen to music of whatever type of whatever amount.

I mean, u must know, there was daff, rabab, flute and e.t.c, enough instruments at the time, in working order, but none were touched by Him or his companions, nor did our Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) held court with any musicians... then I betcha, MJ's a big no no... common sense prevails.
And then what u are syaing "very limited sampleof music"... that's also a bit weird, as Arabs in the times of Jahala, were QUITE fond of it... and it was available in abundance. (Now don't tell me there was no radio so how it can?)... it was... have a look urself.
