Re: Is MQM about to demand division of sindh?
draw a line from quetta to karachi and keep an eye on that section. That is what all the hoopla has been about, there is a reason China is in Gwadar, reason why Iran, UAE and KSA have interests in the area. Leave it to Pakistan to totally screw up a winning geo lottery ticket

Great,
Re: Is MQM about to demand division of sindh?
Karachi was founded by Sindhi and Baloch tribes and has been part of Sindh for hundreds of years. Just as Paris is part of France or London part of England. It will never be separated from Sindh.

Karachi was founded by British and it is evident even in Karachi's street names.

Oh yes, it should be free of Sindh. Karachi's culture is not the same as Larkana and Nawabshah culture.

Even if it is true, isn't it good for the people of Sindh to have more administrative units??? i mean is it easy for someone to travel all the way from Shikar-pur to Karachi to get some work done??? isn't it good for him if he have to do some nearby area???
Pakistan should consider new provinces on administrative basis... where the convenience should be priority..even if it takes dividing sindh, punjab, balochistan and KPK in three to four different units...

Culture of Karachi or MQM.. please be clear...
Culture of any city is made up of norms, practices and awareness of its residents, and when it comes to that, Karachi is not (a lot) different from any city of Pakistan...
Culture of political party such as MQM is based on its interests or i must say, personal gains of political leadership... which MQM have just shown..
100+ killed for what, because MQM wanted 2 seats in AJK or want to show its power in Karachi by killing innocents???
Re: Is MQM about to demand division of sindh?
No issue for division on administrative basis, but a separate Sooba (without consent from all the parties and proper debate in parliament) merely on basis of coward wall chalking is of no use. BTW, administrative powers can be devolved to the Divisional basis, without creating a separate sooba on ethnic basis.
For the correction of records, the first demand for making Karachi Sooba on ethnic basis was made in 1951-52, when there were no such administrative problems like today. And thanks for showing concern for convenience of Sindhis and let them decide in proper way whether they want a separate sooba or not.

So it is only Sindhies who are allowed to talk about dividing other provinces...
when i talk about Sindhies, it is about the people who are suffering both in urban and rural area, where in urban areas they are targeted, insulted by mafias and in rural areas they suffer from a feudal...

In case of Bahawal Pur, Hazara & Saraiki, the stakeholders have made their demand for separate provinces public through their elected ppl. In case of Sindh, its only wall chalking and even there is no clear instance / statement for or against separate Sooba from MQM after wall chalking (before wall chalking even they denied any such demand after Shahbza Sharif's statement). All other stakeholders (including PPP, nationalists, etc) have always denied for such demand.

Well said. I appreciate your balanced remarks as to culture.
Re: Is MQM about to demand division of sindh?
when are people going to grow up? if a “province” is created for administrative purposes then there is nothing wrong with that, for crying out loud we are talking about “province” and not a “country” here.
BTW why does Asif86 bring this topic on new threads again and again? http://www.paklinks.com/gs/pakistan-affairs/509718-conspiracy-to-break-sindh.html

Isn't this get boring. Actually global warming and the global financial crisis and budget deficit in America was caused by Altaf bhai. I am about to post a doctored Utube video which will provide proof positive of Altaf's role in these crises.

Re: Is MQM about to demand division of sindh?

That must be the most inaccurate statement of this century. Karachi was founded by the British in 1843, as the administrative centre of the newly conquered region of Sindh. They were helped in this by a Sindhi Hindu businessman, Bhoj Mal Lohano. Prior to the British conquest, Sindh had been ruled by Talpur Mirs, who ran it like a mafia outfit. Almost all the canals had silted, so had the entrance to the ports at Jheeruk, Keti and Shahbandar. Not a single road was tarmaked and not a mile of railway. If you want to see an example of misrule in the 19th Century, then the Amirate of Sindh would be the best example.
Karachi, like Singapore, was a colonial creation, distinct from its hinterland by the fact that it was an immigrant dominated port.
On the question, MQM has not asked for the division of Sindh.

Pir Sahib,
Not sure what this has to be with the division of Sindh.
