Even the Taliban didnt execute their prisoners the way IS have. The Taliban release many of their kidnap victims, Muslim and Non Muslim alike for ransom or prisoner exchange.

I think the reason ISIS has been beheading all these victims is because they can afford to do so... They make Millions apparently, and so hostages are redundant. The Taliban dont have oil to rely on so ransom is a big part of their income.
