Everyone
. A friend of mine is in a situation that she knows something about which she’s sure that if this certain loved one of hers finds out, he/she will be very very hurt…actually, destroyed would be a better word for it :(. So what she’s doing is that she is lying to that person about it over and over again. What she wants to know is what does Islam say to lying in order to keep someone from being hurt. We would really appreciate your help on this. ![]()
How can we tell if her lying won't hurt that person.....
I think she should know better what will hurt that person more, lying or telling the truth? If that person will be better off without knowing the truth in the future then it is okay to lie....I've read a hadith about it...I'll post it if I find it...gotta look for it first!
According to the Koran, lying is not allowed in any situation whatsoever. Infact the philosophy of Islam features this beauty of truth that it is the most suitable option in all situations.
Some molvis of recent times, such as Molana Modoodi the founder of Jamaat e Islami, have said that lying is allowed, or even compulsory in some situations. These molvis use this logic to forge lies to defame each other and their opponents, and to obtain higher political and social status, and claim they are serving Islam by their lies.
We should however keep ourselves away from such stupid beliefs. The whole concept of Islam and faith lies in the belief in God and a complete trust in him, so when you tell the truth, you expect him to be on your side and solve everything out for you.

ok which ayat?
Re: Is lying in certain circumstances OK???
well its ok to lie to kep someone from hurting
but how long will u have to lie for?
and one day u would have to tell
and there are other things u have to look at ..i hope u know what i mean
if u now the whole story and u think its better to tell the truth and get it over with…and it will be good for everyon…then tell the person and your intention is good so there wont be any gunah…
If you start one lie, than to cover that lie up you have to tell another. Very complicated... only lie in a matter of live and death or something really important, you know, maybe a terribly ill relative or something I don't know.
