is it

against islam to analyse dreams?

as in find out what they mean, say if you saw a dead relative in ur dream and they instructed you to do something, should i do it?

what do i do?

There's nothing wrong with analysing dreams - it's a Qur'anic practice (see Surah Yusuf). As for acting on instructions received in a dream, that's a different matter and requires that you first have the dream correctly interpreted.

i agree

I think of it differently. Hazrat Yusuf (Peace be upon him) was a prophet. While its fine for prophets to analyze dreams to predict future, in Quran it clearly says that only Allah has the knowledge of the future. So, therefore, analyzing dreams to predict future is a dicey preposition, at best, and misleading and prohibited, at worst.

If you see a dead relative, it probably means you are/were thinking about them and the brain conjured up a specific dream about them. Its not necessary to do exactly like they suggested blindly, but your brain may be giving you some messages, and you better analyze them carefully and do what makes sense and is appropriate. Do, istikhaara, if still confused.

My do aanay. :)

and it is related in some hadiths that devil can come in our dreams too, but he can not resemble the prophet :saw:, however he can take other forms to misguide us. may allah help us all,

Dead people don't come in dreams, only devils do. AS dead people, and only if allah wills to show you it.

ok now ur guys just freaked me out!!

my mum came in my dream, shes been dead for abt 6 years..she always comes into my dreams but usually i can never remember what she said or did, however, this latest dream she was wearing white and pink shalwar kameez and told me to get one made jus like it..

i dnt knw what to do..i gave sadqa on behalf of my mum, but dnt knw if i should do what she said???

and someone please tell me that what Cresent said about devils as dead people is not true!!!:(

Missy, ignore them.

I think its sweet and comforting that your mother appears in your dreams. I mean, some of us arent even lucky enough to have any contact with our loved one let alone through our dreams.

My grandparents whom i am not close to some tiems frequent my dreams, always with an encouraging word.

Don't worry about devils in dreams but rather idiots in reality, they are alot more destructive.

Give sadqua again if it helps put your mind at rest.

But dont worry :)

It is recommended that you not go around make it a habit of telling each and every dream to who ever happens to come along, simply because some people will assume what the dreams mean.Such as crsecent sahib has done.

Its to prevent you from worrying over what the dreams could mean.I mean you might dream of somebody who has passed away ,and if you happen to tell another person - that person might tell you that you're next or something. However, its not haram to tell dreams.Ofcourse not.Its only better that you tell them to a learned person- so that you might be able to learn what the dream really meant.

missy, u do what makes you feel good and puts your heart to rest, so long as it isnt harming anyone and you feel you ae doing the right thing, dont worry to much

I don't know anyone qualified to tell me what my dream meant :(

I never ever tell my dreams to anybody, my mum comes to me for a reason i dnt need to tell anyone else..but this dream really scared me as iv heard that if a dead person asks or takes something from u in a dream then it is bad!

Iv given sadqa and iv prayed..am i meant to do anything else?
