I’ve heard many people say that, in big/well-known Organizations, when any of your sibling is working there already, they usually don’t hire anyone else from the same family again. Is it true? If it is, then don’t they hire you even when you are opting for a job position which is a different department than your sibling is working at but the Organization is the same?
Re: Is it true?
As far as I know, two siblings can't work in the same department. In other departments, it is normally allowed.
Re: Is it true?
yeah as far as i know many companies avoid having two siblings working under one roof....but if its one company but a different department then they are fine.
and i think the reason behind this is to avoid family politics, favouritism.
Re: Is it true?
Depends on whether there is any conflict of interest..........just plainly saying not working in same department kind of misleading.........some departements are big or structured in a way that siblings working in them wouldn't pose any risk to the company...
so basically depends on the respective Job Descriptions of both siblings...and how company assesess the risk....
so...do apply and see what the company has to say......
Re: Is it true?
These things tend to be country specific. In the US, yes they don't hire siblings to work in the same dept or close. That creates an unfavorable condition where people start favoring each other for no reason but that they are family.
Yeah, lots of ifs and buts, but that is the general policy and may not apply every where. They even ask that on job applications.
Re: Is it true?
family members are not hired where there will be a reporting relationship between the people to avoid someone either getting undue benefit due to the relationship or getting screwed over because they have a falling out in personal life. rest in general is cool.
