Is it true india can't ?

I was just wondering if its true that India can’t play fast bowlers very well?

As I read the report on cricket.org the chief selector Chandu Borde of incian cricket board mentioned in his report quote

“India were bundled out for 102 on the opening day of the third Test, once again failing to handle pace on a lively pitch. West Indies skipper Carl Hooper and Shivnarine Chanderpaul then hit centuries to turn the match their way.”

If thats true imagine what would happen if Waqar, Waseem, Shoaid and Sami is playing against india and Saeed opens with Nazir along with Inzimam, Youhana, Razaq, Latif?

I guess then Chandu sahib’s report would say once again india were bundled out for 50 eh

Well what you guys think if thats the team playing against india what would happen to india? And I would like to take the opportunity to ask my fellows here if PAK were to play against india whom would you pick for PAK team? (only current players not retired or any other players) Thank you in advance

no wonder they never scored more than 50 against pakistan…

I think the main reason of that is because the domestic cricket is played on slow pitches which hurts them to produce quality fast bowlers and play fast bowler as well but then again Pakistan's domestic pitches are same or even worst, its the natural talent which counts.

I guess you guys haven't heard of a name called Sunil Gavaskar, Most successful batsman against the West Indies Pace battery.

Do let me know If you want a list of all Indian bastsmen who were comfortable against genuine pace bowling.

AK

Slow Pitches point IS true.
Still that doesn't take away anything from Indian batsmen.
Gavaskar is a good example.
He faced the best in the business. Clive Loyd's team of 70-80s, Imran and Co. from Pak, Lillee and Co. from Australia!!!

He always prevailed against them.
Well except perhaps Mike Holding(The Whispering Death)
Infact Gavaskar got touchy when people started saying Malcolm Marshal figured him out and volunteered that piece of information.
Saying, if I lost the battle to any bowler, it is Mike Holding!!

You can't judge Indian Batsmen by watching people like Azaruddin, who is good only when every otther batsmen is good AND a High School team is bowling against him!!

Watch Kapil and Sachin and Vengy!!

Actually its true ! Forget Gavaskar or Tendulkar (and maybe Vengsarkar), most Indian batsmen cannot play short pitched, fast bowling. This is a fact !! Ganguly cannot play the rising ball on a fast wicket (or anywhere). I have seen Dravid getting hit on the helmet a couple of times -- for a frontline batsman that is unacceptable. You can't compare Gavaskar with anyone...I feel he was the best test batsman of all time (apart from Bradman of course). He toyed around with the best fast bowlers of all time and hit 13 centuries against them (many of them in their backyard). So Gavaskar doesnt represent Indian batting -- he was the exception. Check out what happened against the West Indies in the first innings -- 102 all out against bowlers like Cameron Cuffy !!!! The Australian, South African (maybe even Pakistani or Sri Lankan) batmen would have whooped this club-level bowler all around the park.

similiarly if you take out Javed,Haneef (Zaheer to some extent) ..Most pakistani batrsmen cant play Fast bowler on fast pitches.

Inzaman is one of the best, if not the best, player of fast deliveries in current day cricket.

Btw, does Ganguly get scared when someone fires a bouncer into his chest / head ?

Boy does he duck and wobble.

Pity he cant practice that shot since no one in India can provide him with a fast delivery - besides may be Kapil Dev

Well said bombaykid...

andhra, pakistani batsmen have no problems facing pace attacks... Even the guys you mentioned, miandad, zaheer etc, I wouldnt say they are better than Inzi, Youhana, anwar... As for India's pace attack, you claim your best fast bowler (although he was hardly fast) Kapil Dev was unplayable... Remember what Salim Malik did to him in India once?

oh...so u mentioned since Malik hit him so he is no good..
Do u want me to bring some facts about how ur fast bowlers Imran ,wasim and waqar were hit around park sometimes in there career. But then that doesnt make them ordinary bowler..

Did u forgot Jadeja at Banglore..Didnt that cost u world cup.

The way malik hit em, made kapil look like an ordinary bowler... I remember how the cricketer turned commentator ravi shastri was considered such a good all rounder until wasim akram blasted him in sharjah, they never let him bowl again, atleast not against Pakistan...
