Pathans have nothing to do with North Indians, they look completely different from them, completely different phenotype, on average they have bigger built, fairer skin, different facial features and lighter eyes. There are theories to suggest that at one point in time they had assimilated into the Hindu religion as Warrior caste but unlike the Rajputs who assimilated full fledge into Indian society the Pathans always maintained a separate identity from India and continue to do so, the Pashtuns are a Iranian people related to the Persians, the Kurds and other Aryan tribes… etc. They have some similarities with Indian ethnic groups because of the proximity of our areas the Indian ethnic groups have adopted and adapted many aspects of Pathan/Afghan culture such as the Shalwar Kameez, Bhangra, pilaffs and kebabs etc.
Pathans are primarily of Aryan/Iranian racial makeup but they do have a bit of other races such as Semitic, Greek, "Indian" mixed into them too in different areas.
Gujaratis are North Indians as are Sindhis, just because they're darker does not change that, they have Aryan in them too only a bit less than Punjabis, Punjabis are not pure Aryans neither with plenty of local Dravidian mixed into them, contrary to the theories about Aryan hordes driving all the locals down south they actually mated with their women to produce mixed raced North Indians ethnic groups, the ratio of Dravidian DNA strands is obviously higher in some places (Bengal, Gujarat etc.) compared to others (Punjab etc.).
Bro the word Iranian is not necessarily synonymous to the present day country Iran or Persians, it has existed long before and is a variation of Aryan and means just that.
Afghanistan and Iran were once one country called Aryana and the word Iranian is used to refer to all Central Asian Aryan tribes such as Kurds, Persians, Uzbeks, Baluchis, Tajiks etc.

Khaqan Khawaja, if you are a real Khawaja then you should know that the Khawaja Khels are ethnic Pashtuns of the Khattak stock mixed with Arab Sayeds. Kashmiri are a mix of Afghan, Pashtun and original Kashmiri people. The Afghan Empire stretched from far corners of Herat till the far ends of Kashmir. During the 1940’s and 50's thousands of Pashtuns tribesmen were settled there to fight holy war against the Indians at the request of Mohammad Ali Jinnah. After Azad Kashmir was declared many settled there and married, and many came back with wives.
Pashtuns are not Jews, Mongolians, Arabs, Greeks or Iranians. These groups of people after failing to invade the Pashtuns settled down in their areas and over the course of time were assimilated into the Pashtuns just like the Nuristanis, Kafiristani, and Chitralis. The only thing that was left was their verbal stories of their great ancestral origins. The original tribes such as Apreedee (Afridi), Asvazai (Yousafzai), Shattak(Khattak), Shinwari, Bangash, Orakzai and Mangal etc. are present in the Rig Veda. There are tribes by the name of Mangal and Mengal in Balochistan and even in Bangladesh. The Hindus first came to know of their religions from these horsemen who due to their skin complexion and warrior nature became their gods or protectors after they hailed from Khyber on their horses. Check any Hindu history site to confirm. After the mixture of Turks, Persians and Arabs with the Pashtuns the Afghans were born. Later when Afghanistan was declared a nation Afghans were no more just these people the Tajiks (mix Persian, Arab and Turks) Uzbeks (Mix Asian, Russo, Persian) and Hazara (Mix Persian, Mongoloid, Arabs) also took up the name Afghan since they became the citizens of Afghanistan. From there on anyone that came from the Khyber was known as “Pathan” even if that person was not an ethnic Pashtun. The Pathan denotation was first used for Pashtuns, so was Afghans. Though today not all Afghans or Pathans are Pashtuns. Therefore the saying that all Pashtuns are Afghans and Pathans but not all Pathans and Afghans are Pashtuns. The enlightened class of Pashtun doesn’t recognize the “Pathan” denotation. They only recognize Pashtun or ethnic Afghan.
The untouched tribes refer to themselves as “Pakhtuns” rather “Pashtuns”. The term “Pashtun” is a modern and softer tongue, after the Persian influence over the region. The people of Peshawar, Kabul, and Kandahar will refer to themselves as Pashtuns while the people of the tribal areas will call each other Munga/Mu/Munz Pakhtuneh yu.
Now how or what is considered a Pakhtun/Pashtun amongst the eyes of the Pashtuns/Pakhtuns, that in itself is a different story.
That mythical land existed eons ago…there is no semblance of it left, nor any of its genetically/racially pure stock left uncontaminated…
There has been enough migrations and inter-marriages over the centuries that the people who exist now in our part of the world are very similar racially…at least the Northern Indians and beyond…All, except off course south Indians, are considered caucasiod…
People have always been fascinated with Pakhtuns because the fact remains they have kept themselves separated from everyone else. There is nothing to be jealous about, we didn’t formulate Microsoft Windows. Though I would like people to keep their wild ideas to themselves and not generalize as much as people tend to. In the end people are being people and I’m sure Pakhtun have their own wild ideas about others.
