I really want to holiday in America, but my biggest concern is the fear of being arrested at the airport.
I am not a dangerous or bad guy, am not even religious. I have never even been done for littering, but I have this fear of being arrested for being a brown guy.
Am I being unreasonable?
Have any of you known of apne going to the US post 9/11 and NOT having any trouble?
Unjustfied fear.
Plz either put my mind at ease or ease me of the desire to visit America.
I went to the USA twice last year without problems, but that's because I chose to go on my British passport rather than my Pakistani one. Plus my name, whilst consisting of Arabic words, doesn't have any well-known arabic names in it and so it's very difficult for someone not educated in arabic to recognise me and being Muslim by name alone.
However, even my British passport does give my place of birth as Karachi. But on both occasions, they didn't really seem to look closely at that page of the passport.
No :( There are lots of black people there :( Watch out for them. You will recognize this species by their easily identifiable dark-coloured, gross skin and the size of their lips. They are prevalent in activities such as stealing, mugging, raping, and looting.
On the serious side - interesting how we are discussing discrimination against Muslims/brown people in this thread.... yet racism manifests itself in so many unique ways.
Of course it is. You might not understand it but we have constitutional protections even for those who hate us.
Nosirre bob.none of that danny perele stuff for you.
no sarin,no "lets kill everyone who won't give us our way.
Just don't think you wil not be watched.
We are not naieve anymore.
Just to clarify regarding your point, Garcia my friend. Thousands upon thousands of Caucasians from Russia, US, UK, Australia, and Canada make many Middle Eastern and Asian countries their home. Whatever happened to Pearl - do not use that to paint that as the typical treatment of ‘foreigners’ in those countries. Go to places like the UAE and observe how Caucasians are treated there - and then tell me about Pearl’s treatment being typical.
And as for being ‘watched’ - since most of those 19 men were from Saudi Arabia, it’s better if the US govt. watches the Saudi govt. rather than Pakistanis.
LegBreakGoogly, yeah i guess you will be safe there. i am glad to learn you were ‘joking’ in that thread. Some jokes border on being really distasteful though and i don’t think those ones are funny. They’re deeply offensive. Anyways whatever, i don’t want to ruin your thread. Enjoy your trip.
Yes, its perfectly safe. Ive travelled numerous times back and forth, both as a visitor and as a student between semester breaks, never had any problems. If youre referring to 'life in the US', then it depends on where you live, if youre going there for studies, chances are that you will end up in a university town, where the crime rate is very low, and you will be safe there my friend, and best of all, you will enjoy your time there.
well there is no guarantee that lhaving GB passport will make it easy for you at the airport. you may face a very a thorough luggage inspection at the Customs and Immigration and more than usual questions about your trip. But they will not put you in jail based on the things you mentioned :p
this thread makes you look really suspicious. your fear should be that they dont visit gupshup and start tracking you down. you make a really nervous tourist.
