Re: Is it possible
I was just wondering if its possible to have a multi-core processor in the future that can be assigned specific programs/tasks for separate cores. For instance:
in a quad core processor, you could assign two cores to work on ur graphics program commands while rest of the cores handle general PC work...
Windows Vista has a very cool feature called Dream Scene which allows a user to set animated wallpapers. Trouble is, it takes too much processor power. So we could assign one core to wallpaper job.
I think it'll require both hardware and software support. Its kinda like that AMD concept where they r coming up with specialized mathematics processor. But I am just interested in knowing if this idea is feasible, theoretically and practically speaking? Has something like this been proposed before?
On2's Flix engine uses separate cores for encoding videos..there's gotta be many others
