What if a couple do a nikaah and get married in one country, but then for whatever reason the bride or the groom’s parents or grandparents couldn’t attend this nikaah because they live in another country, then is it possible for the couple to then go that country (where these relatives who couldn’t attend the first ceremony live) and then do a nikaah again?
I know a girl who has ‘in laws to-be’ who live in a different country to both her and her fiance, so I thought I would ask this question on her behalf.
it will be retundant, unnecesaay and it has no significance in Islam...if you wanna do it, do it for your personal reasons...don't believe that somehow the double or triple nikaah will strengthen ur marriage or it's an act of more sawaab etc.
the only valid reason i can think of is when couples belong to different madhab of Islam...in order to satisfy their madhab requirement, you may consider that...
...i know a wedding where the bride was a sunni while the groom was a bohri...so they had nikaah done separately.
remember: nikaah is a religious requirement and NOT a social event alone.
Only other valid reason could be that for documentation purposes (where one country does not recognize the documents of another country), you may want to repeat the ceremony.
well i am talking with some knowledge.. the second nikah that is done is called TASHDEED E NIKKAH.. n according to most of the ulmaa and muftis of saudi arabia as well as pakistan.. IT IS JAYEZ to do nikkah twice or thrice. although it doesnt strengthen ur nikkah. but if u r doing it for ur grand parents or parents or other relatives.. u may do it :) i even have a fatwa by DAR UL ULOOM KARACHI.
No. The purpose of Nikkah is to marry two people in the eyes of Allah. Once you've done that, it's done. Only way you can do it again is by getting divorced then reading the Nikkah again.
Just throw a party when you arrive in the new country in celebration of your nikkah so your family who missed out can attend. It's no big deal. They should understand, and at the end of the day it's a party that they want to attend anyway, right?
