i need to know if any one can make sure it is legal to use software like hotspot shield to unblock youtube and magic jack as it is banned here in pakistan.. I am confused is it right to use hotspot shield. I dont have viber or other thing these days..thats why i use magic jack for calling abroad. but I am worried whether it is legal to use or not.

Waalikum Aslam. It would not be technically and legally correct to use YouTube/magic Jack cz right now it is banned in Pak. But to be honest, People have been using softweres to unblock it since the day it was banned. I have not seen any legal action against anyone. So , it is upto u if u want to use softweres to unblock Magic jack YouTube,

The question is" Is the ban legal? Just because few retards sitting in assemblies think it to do so, doesn't make bans legal.
Does bowing before emotional masses legal and legitimate or taking some steps to educate people and enforce procedures for otherwise freely available facility across the world is sensible and legal. If it was haram (forbidden) to use youtube, it should not have been allowed in Pakistan from first day (which is BTW allowed in Muslim world including KSA till todate).

yes Muqwee, there was no law passed in the national assembly to block Yiutube so it's NOT a law...you may call it heavy-handed chowdharaahaT...!!!

The reasons for YouTube ban is very suspect. Religion is a very popular tool to move the masses but the real reason for the block was to block easy access to people pointing out government flaws. An average person with a mobile phone suddenly became too powerful.
I don't think the block is ethical and if the reasons why you want to use hotshot shield are ethical then there is no reason for you to stop yourself.

^ ji...i have no problem whether youtube or these things are banned..ALHAMDULILAH there are so many alternatives like skype, viber etc...but rightnow i am unable to use these things..but my mother wants to talk to me..and its hard to make her understand :( warna i don't have problem..i don't even bother.

Why is it insane? The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) gets a lot of its income from charging incoming and outgoing international phone calls. Since VOIP competes with this and the PTA own regulating internet traffic, it seems completely sane for the PTA to do whatever it can to make VOIP illegal so that it continues to maximise revenue.
Not trying to shut down your competition would be insane.
^ This is a violation of your basic rights as a free citizen. I don't see anything unethical if you use the hotspot software to override such bans.
It's amazing that federal govt owes millions of rupees in gas and electricity bills and not coughing it up, but they cant see general public using free or cheep internet based communication programs.
