Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

Hi everyone,

My mom just got back from Pakistan with my shaddi outfit. It is BEAUTIFUL (I will try to post pics once I have time) however, the neckline of the shirt is very low…to the point where a bit of cleavage is showing. My mom specifically told them NOT to make it too low but they still did. Anyhow, I wanted to know, is this fixable? Like can a tailor fix this problem or am I doomed to be the “beysharam” bride with a low cut neckline? Thanks!

Re: Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

You could either sew the top of the shirt, double it up (the seam where the shoulder blades are) and make make the neckine smaller, however this can mess with the rest of the fititng of the shirt.

Use double sided tape and stick the kameez just above your cleavage line.

Drape the dupatta in a way that cover the neckline (bad idea though if the kameez is heavily embroided)

Find a top to wear under thae kameez, which is the exact same colour. (might make you look bulky though if kameez is very tight fitted.

Congrats and good luck, post pics soon so we can see.

Re: Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

the only thing that can be done at this point is to "pinch" it at the neckline from the back to pull it up from the front.
(pinch, and have it sewn, like a pleat)

Re: Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

if you don't mind spending a little money, you can go to any tailor where ever you live. When it comes to wedding dresses there is no problem, either someone in your family may fix it, or you can take it to an alteration shop. I even take my jeans for alteration, which i buy right off the rack. where are you from?

Re: Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

Post some pics, if the top just has embroidery on the sleeves, you can buy some plain silk or something and make a new top, but have the sleeves from the original sewn on to it?

Also if it's done carfeully a good tailor might be able to cut the embroidery from the neckline and sew that on to the new top.

Re: Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

I would suggest the same thing as bride2be. Pinch the neckline at the back and have it sewn like a pleat. To be on the safe side buy double sided tape and set the neckline properly even after it is altered. Also tell you makeup artist the adjust the kameez and pin the dupatta in such a way that the weight of it doesn't pull it down.

Re: Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

try beads

i have a scar issue on my chest... the designer made the kurti but it was too low (well not low but i didnt want my scar showing), so after the fitting, they put beads on the neckline in a way that it didnt look low at all.. and instead looked very cool... i'll take a pic of it tomorrow and post it, Inshallah

Re: Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

Well, sadzzz, I would love to see this bead remedy.

Re: Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

how far does the jewellery set go...if its beyond your neckline then maybe itl be ok.however i have had issues like this with my normal salwar kamiz, sometimes you can eveythn if i bend down even a little, so basically i get 2 safety pins and stick them in at the top...pull the kameez back a little bit and stick pins together....hope you understand what im saying. otherwise a besharam bride sounds brilliant....lol

Re: Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

If you don't want to ruin the shirt by doing something on it... you can always cover up with duppatta or jewellery....

Re: Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

do u have an email addy i cant send the pics to? ive taken the pics but they are a bit too big and i cant seem to crop them any further. Unless someone on here can?

Re: Is it fixable? Wedding outfit...

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I never thought of the double sided tape either. Hopefully the tape works and the shirt can be pinched at the shoulders without ruining the look of it.

sadzzz, you can resize images by using this website. Quite handy!
