Is it ethical?

Is it ethical for people to use their charm or beauty to sell products?

I’ve seen a lot of male sellers going OTT with their selling techniques…seriously, you don’t have to try too hard to sell a product and if I need it I’d buy it without you getting overboard with the flirting and charms. In fact, I have started to dislike such sellers and I’m just going to walk away next time without buying anything.

Re: Is it ethical?

Lol arey bhai its their job. Every one does it in their own way. Just they find whatever suits them and works for them. I think I would find it amusing on the seller's part to believe their personal charms to be working more than the utility of the thing they are selling. At the end of the day, a buyer enters a shop for the reasons he already knows, and a sensible one wont fall for the tactics of the sellers for any reason.

Re: Is it ethical?

Yes it is.

Re: Is it ethical?

hm yeah?

Re: Is it ethical?

Doesn't it mean you're exploiting your customers?

Re: Is it ethical?

Isn’t that their purpose? To sell their products by making it attractive.
Are you being sarcastic? :hmmm:

I mean commercials on tv, adds, fashion magazines…don’t they all use beautiful (flirting and charming) models to sell perfumes, cloths, make-up, jewellery…anything?

Re: Is it ethical?

On tv and magazine, it's different. I can choose to ignore it or hide it. I was talking about the real life interactions. Seriously, I dread the smiles and shine in the eyes of theirs. It's not even real...it's all fake. Okay no one likes dealing with grumpy people but dealing with I'msocharming type of people is equally uncomfortable....specially when you know they're fake.

Re: Is it ethical?

It says nothing about the product … it dupes people to buy the product for reasons other than the purpose it has … advertising in the modern age utilises every tactic to encourage consumerism … the purpose is wrong, and the methods are too … How can that not be unethical?

Re: Is it ethical?

how is it different than people dressing up formally for business/work?

Re: Is it ethical?

I never said that is not unethical.
I just said that thats how the selling business works.

Re: Is it ethical?

I know it is annoying, and you have to be immune to it :P
