There was quite a lot of controversy when Hina Rabbani Khar was seen with a Birkin a while back but is it insensitive for a ‘normal’ girl to walk round with an expensive designer bag in Pakistan, India etc. Do you think it’s wrong?
Re: Is it callous to carry a designer bag in Pakistan?
No. If you can afford it, I don't see what the problem is. But at the same time, giving back through charity is always a good thing.
Re: Is it callous to carry a designer bag in Pakistan?
Poorer people probably wouldn't recognise that it is a designer, and India and Pakistan have so many fake designer copies out there, others wouldn't even notice.
Re: Is it callous to carry a designer bag in Pakistan?
There are people who are living well above the poverty line, but still may not be able to afford high-end designer bags....and they may be living in the UK, so should a person also be this conscientious around them? You can afford expensive material things, so it isn't a crime to enjoy them....so long as yo don't make material things the yardstick for a person's worth and contribute charity.
Re: Is it callous to carry a designer bag in Pakistan?
I don't see an issue with it, as long as your around people that atleast recognize the brand/style. I mean how stupid would it be to carry an LV to a pind? But if its something you enjoy then what the heck who cares! I personally woudn't carry a designer bag everywhere in Pakistan, atleast most of the times because I feel bad myself. Carrying even a Michael kors cheap tote worth like 250$ is a poor man's monthly pay where he feeds a family of 6 in Pakistan. But again, to each their own.

wow if 250 is cheap, then my $50 bags must be absolute trash! ![]()
