I think sometimes these ashaar’s are misunderstood and sometimes the poets who wrote such ashaars came up with totally different thoughts. Like on one side Ghalib seems to have doubts in existence of paradise and on other hand he wrote ashaars like:
Na Tha kucH to Khuda tha, Kuch na hota to Khuda hota
dubooYa mujhKo hoNi ne, na hota maiN to kya hota
