There is no guarantee that either of the two scenerios would work so i guess each individual would select what suits their circumstances. However, i don't see many people stop @ scenerio #1 because a) most human beings crave for companionship b) there is always a hope within that it may just work out the next time c) society somewhat dictates this too.

2nd option. The 2nd provides me with an opportunity to actually make work the unworkable, and even if all the other options have been exhausted, I'd still try my best to be patient . Makes the belief a whole lot more firm if its a marriage. I'd wanna be the last to ask for the D word
The 1st on the other hand, provides me with absolutely nothing.

Such a relationship where you are feeling miserable, will just suffocate you. You will start thinking negatively and it will affect your mood, your personality and your life. I rather be heartbroken and single, get over the whole thing and have control over my life, then be emotionally blackmailed and my feelings played with.
