My old (desi) professor has emailed me and is asking if I can give him some favorable reviews on a rate the professor website. I think it’s a bit cheesy to ask .. especially mentioning that I should give him a favorable review. Don’t you think?

your review should be based on your own personal experience with him. If he was a good professor then you should do him this favour. Otherwise ignore

I agree. Sometimes I receive requests from friends as well to rate this and that in their favor. That's a bit annoying.
