Although I haven't had a chance to skim through the answers posted above, I would like to state that there isn't anything wrong with two individuals consummating their marriage once they have matured.
Only Allah (SWT) Knows about the Wisdom behind why Prophet Muhammad (SAW) married Aisha (RA) when she was young. Keep in mind, it was no violation of any sort, as I believe she had matured at the time of her rukhsati (or whatever you may want to call it).
