is it allowed in islam?

Re: is it allowed in islam?

^^

Sad to say that they are still trying.

That said, you did not answer my question. What are the options of a non-muslim country like India if its citizens stop being patriotic and look upto other countries. Would'nt that be treason.

Re: is it allowed in islam?

It would be "treason". India would need to decide how to handle it.

Britain already faced this issue in World War 1. It desperately needed Indian soldiers to make up the numbers for its army, but faced a severe problem. Britain was at war with the Ottoman Empire, and pre-war surveys had shown that the majority of Indian Muslims stated that they owed more loyalty to the Ottoman Empire than to the British Empire. Around half the British Indian Army were Muslim.

Britain had the choice between trying to force its Muslims to fight against the Ottoman Empire, knowing that they would choose to commit "treason" rather than go against their religious beliefs, or trying to accomodate this instead.

As a result, Indian Muslims were only sent to fight in Africa and Western Europe, were there was no chance of them having to fight the Ottomans who they believed their true loyalty was to. Only White, Hindu and Sikh soldiers were sent to fight against the Ottomans.

Re: is it allowed in islam?

well the brits also started the frontier corps which was almost 100% muslim and fought almost exclusively with other muslims. and as for muslims not believing in petty differences like national identities.. sounds nice to say but reality is that muslims believe in and fight over every petty difference there is.

not that i think anyone - muslim or not - should be joining armies and becoming cheap tools for the agendas of megalomaniac nutjobs..

Re: is it allowed in islam?

All true. And like I said, Muslims themselves destroyed the actual single united Muslim nation.

But the point about the Indian Muslim soldiers was that while they were OK to fight against other Muslims (ie the Frontier Corps), surveys in the early 1900s revealed that the majority of them regarded the Ottoman Sultan as being the person they owed their loyalty to, not the British Monarch. The soldiers were not OK with fighting against the Sultan's men.

Mugal1 : very good reply. if only we had more people like you, and this world would be a better place to co- exist with all people.

Re: is it allowed in islam?

Nice.

And in today's terms, specifically? The OP's question was pertaining to a very specific nation. What's your view on that particularly?
