Islam is against patriotism - technically, it requires that the loyalty of Muslims should be to the single Muslim nation (which Muslims themselves pretty much took apart 1000 years ago in defiance of their own religion).

It’s one of the reasons why so many Islamists in India were against the creation of Pakistan - they didn’t believe that the world needed yet another Muslim state, that the creation of this would mark yet another division of the true Muslim nation.

Of course, once Pakistan was actually a reality, they flocked to Pakistan because they believed that now that this new division existed, it would need them to reform it and make sure that it adhered to all of their particular interpretations of Islam…
