Is it Acceptable to Degrade Pashtuns on this forum?

I have decided to start off this thread as a separate section quite simply because I think certain forum policies need to be highlighted. My thread will probably be deleted as it is very controversial and will stir the way people think on this forum for. It seems racism is an accepted part of the forum here.

If you go to the debate on “Citizenship” (under Pak Affairs, Politics and Economics) on page 2 or better still click this link

http://www.paklinks.com/gs/showthread.php?t=210115&page=2

you will see that a Senior Memberr made the following remarks about Pashtun tribals
the following is taken from what antiobl wrote “Oh Khan Sahib, sang-e-haal day (how are doing?) when did the tribals start legit business? Must be a news. Kidnapping, drug smugling, weapons bazars of tribal area, Bara, lundi kotal etc. are not new.

Tomorrow will be another fight for “freedom” against Arabs who now are feasting on Pushtoon women (OK OK they can marry 4 of them).

And Waziri elders are so happy of turning their homes to “Arab hunting grounds”. This is what we call Tribal freedom. Freedom to sell women, weapons, drugs and you name it.”

Now this goes against the forum policy. If you look at Mad Scientists posting at the top of the Politics and Economics you will see that he has written the following as a forum policy “There will now be zero tolerance on flaming, being rude or making insulting generalisations about countries, religion, or other large grouping of people……

**See it on this link **

I believe antiobl severely violated forum policy with his comments. I have complained to the moderators and Mad Scientist responded that they have noticed that antiobl has broken forum rules and will be watching to see if any one goes over the line. In a further private message he has written they have to make sure that people do not go over the line.

**Haris Zuberi responded by saying “stick to the topic guys”. **

What I need to know is that – is the line somewhat different for Pashtuns than for others? Either that or the moderators see as what antiobl says as correct. What are these lines which people cannot cross?

**I find this post extremely offensive and extremely degrading to Pashtuns and women. The forum moderators must make sure what is clearly acceptable on the forum. I deduce from the reaction I have received that it is OK and acceptable to degrade Pashtuns. **

Tribalism is not synonymous with Pashtoon ethnicity. There can be tribes in Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan ... everywhere.

antiOBL has very strong views about Arabs. You should read his other posts. I have read his posts where he has clearly defended Pashtoon guppies here. Anyways, I'm not his spokesman.

It is not acceptable to degrade any ethnicity here. People usually degrade Pakistan.

Re: Is it Acceptable to Degrade Pashtuns on this forum?

the tribes he is talking about are pashtuns. you can see what he has written quite clearly if you check his actual posts. whatever defending of pashtuns he has done has probably been killed of by that one comment my aim is not to degrade Pakistan itself just certain government policies and actions that have had pretty negative impacts. it is very easy to racial stereotype and t be honest it has to be stopped at every level.

Re: Is it Acceptable to Degrade Pashtuns on this forum?

Skylops, this is what antiobl wrote a few days back in this thread. Now I don’t always agree with him, but I don’t think that he is anti-Pashtun. He doesn’t like Arabs though. :hehe:

Re: Is it Acceptable to Degrade Pashtuns on this forum?

OK, I apologize if I made any insensitive comment.

Re: Is it Acceptable to Degrade Pashtuns on this forum?

well his comment was the worst way to insult anyone. what the question should now be is that how come the mods let that anti-pashtun she-bang on the forum. by the way the perosn he was referring to had made anti-Punjabi comments too.

by the way you did nt make any insensitive comments. you just refecting your opinion. of course a member can’t be judged on one comment but pretty much some of these 1 comments show exactly what people think.

Re: Is it Acceptable to Degrade Pashtuns on this forum?

^^ Aren't you being a little too Pashtun centric?

Re: Is it Acceptable to Degrade Pashtuns on this forum?

Look up any afghan forum and it would seem their policy is to abuse pakistanis, tajiks, pashtuns, iranians, hazaras, uzbeks, depending on the majority people at the forum.

antiobl is just trying to catch up it seems. And look up posts of someone named mega man for some good racial abuse by your fellow pashtun.

Re: Is it Acceptable to Degrade Pashtuns on this forum?

To a certain extent you are right, there is some unwanted hatred for pakistanis and Pakistan at pashtun(Afghan) forums, but they don't speak for all. There should be constructive criticism. However then ther are those few confused ones them insult pashtuns of pashtunistan, and vice versa. Most fo them forget many great afghan patriots came from pashtunistan.

Re: Is it Acceptable to Degrade Pashtuns on this forum?

**Syklops,

**When you’re in touch with the moderators regarding some issue, you first ought to discuss it with them at length and share your views and, also listen to what they have to say and process it reasonably.

Blames and allegations of partiality, racism or prejudice on part of the forum administration are easy to shoot, but realizing whether there’s any truth to it is even simpler.

Take a look around at the versatile topics being dicussed by a versatile population of guppies on the forum and see how and where the forum management indulges in partiality?
Indians say what they want to Pakistanis, and vice versa.
Non Muslims to Muslims and vice versa.
(And that with the forum being a Pakistani Muslim one)
And similarly any school of thought would say whatever to the other. What the moderators ensure (within human limitations) is that no one goes beyond a certain limit. And that certain limit is known by the Paklinks administration team and varies case to case.

In this much publicized case where antiobl said something which by all means is not a reasonable thing to say, the reaction is far beyond reasonable.

First, what he said was not more insulting than many things previously said by Pashtuns about nonPashtuns.
Second, why would the forum be antiPashtun? Or anti anything for that matter!? The forum is never responsible for what a member might say or feel and does not bar anyone from expressing their views, unless ofcourse they are completely against rules and policy.

The forum is a global secular place. But, it inevitably is also Pakistani and Muslim (and not Sunni, Shia, Punjabi, Pathan, Balochi, Sindhi, Mohajir), so that has to be respected by all because the forum respects all that is not Pakistani or Muslim too.

Before stirring such emotional campaigns and starting such threads it’s better to discuss properly with the moderators and have some control over emotions and be less sensitive. Among other things it also shifts all attention from the initial over stepper, if any.

antiobl,
Your above post in this thread had to be removed. You must have taken note of the hurt caused by your comment in that thread and be more sensitive to the others in future.
We hope everyone will take lessons.

What members ought to realize and work on is that they have to be more open to criticism, be ready for an insult in turn for an insult, never step beyond ethical limits, respect others’ views and above all be tolerant.
This is a place for healthy discussions and not street fights. I hope we all can have less paranoia, more camraderie and better interactions.

Thanks :k:
