Is Islam in Pakistan different

DPA from Islamabad has reported that Pakistan has banned November 22 issue of the weekly Newsweek for publishing objectionable remarks which tantamount to desecration of the Holy Quran and are offensive to Islam. These remarks were contained in a story entitled Clash of Civilisations”. Pakistan must have taken this step for good reason but point is why the other Muslim countries have not banned the same issue. This issue is available here in Saudi Arabia and UAE. Are there different Islams in different countries or does we in Pakistan have made ourselves as Policeman of Islam adopting the mentality of our friend US treating itself Policeman of the world. This is mind boggling.

From what I heard Saudia Arabia already censors all the pictures in these magazines? is that not true?

as for places like Dubai and UAE, they have their own "modern" culture.

Pakistan is prolly the only conservative Muslim country, apart from maybe Iran. and Pakistan is more conservative than Iran.

Pakistan have made ourselves as Policeman of Islam adopting the mentality of our friend US treating itself Policeman of the world.<<<<<<

Thats not a good comparison b/c we r not doing cruelty on any other nation neither are we imposing ourselves anywhere. We have limited our beliefs to ourselves and our own country whereas the USA is indulging in cruelties and wars in other countries.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia have censors who paint out certain images in every single magazine and newspaper imported in.

Whilst that edition of Newsweek is available, in most cases the offending photo will be covered with a layer of black paint.

In Pakistan, where we don't have an agency dedicated to censoring photos, the whole edition was simply banned.

On what basis?

mein kyun bataon :stuck_out_tongue:

change it

Compare this with the current reality where we are subjected to a plethora of mind numbing game shows and trivial soaps that seem to dominate our screens. Our children will o_nce again hold the Prophets (Alaihis Salaam) and Sahabah (Radiallahu Anhum) as their role models rather than the likes of David Beckham and Eminem, who are so widely revered throughout the world today. Our children will be familiar with the speech of Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta’aala) and not the foul lyrics of gangster rappers.

I thought Mad-Russah kids already hold Mullahs as their role models. Aren't you guys in UK aloo stores sending kids to those Mad-Russahs?

Unfortunately Qaris in Mad-Russahs have tendencies similar to the catholic priests.
