There are always two sides to every generation. Every generation shares its ups and downs, advantages and disadvantages.
Is this generation more into peace then war? That's a rather broad question. Sensible folks in every age and time want to have peace. No one likes to have un necessary blood shed of innocent lives. However, one must apprehend that sometimes the only way to achieve peace is through war. At times circumstances and events lead to no other choice, thus leaving no other option. And when it comes down to standing up for the integrity of one's religion, no sacrifice can be made in that department. Kashmir and Palestine are a legendary example.
Tolerance is based on happenings. Some things can be tolerated whereas, others can not be. Level of tolerance varies with individuals. One can not come up with a general consensus regarding the whole generation on issue of tolerance. It is something which can not be summed up, rather is proven by the passage of time and events.
It's hazardous to compare this generation with the last one or any other. Until and unless muslims and muslimahs of today do something for the betterment of the Ummah, none of us are in the position to claim a spot higher than the previous.
Sure we can be better muslims. There is always some space for improvement. The starting point can be respecting the "ahl e bait" (which includes the Prophet Muhammad SAW's wives and sahabas, sahabiyats.) The prominent leaders of Islam who have made humongous sacrifices for the betterment of upcoming generations. When we all can learn to respect and value them for who they are, and what they did, maybe we'll finally hit the road to being better muslims and unity.
