Re: Is Iran developing a clandestine nuclear weapons program?

what does wealth have to do with need or no need of nuke?

Re: Is Iran developing a clandestine nuclear weapons program?

Wealth doesn't have anything to do with nukes. But building nuclear reactors by a oil and gas rich country under the guise of electric power makes things look more suspicious. Also, it is a well known fact that many of irans nuclear facilities were clandestine (or perhaps still are) in nature. If those facilities were (or are ) not for developing nuclear weapons, why do it secretively?. If there was nothing to hide, they would have done it openly. Also, didn't Libya concede that they were getting knowhow to build nukes from the nuclear black market that was running?...and It was from the same source which iranian government was trying to get the know how. One openly admitted it was for weapons and the other cannot say it was power. Besides, to generate power from nuclear facilities, russia was already helping iran. There was no necessity for them to look for other sources (that too which are illegal). That should make things pretty clear. yes, they are doing it for weapons.

US report on Iran ‘dishonest’, says IAEA

VIENNA: A recent House of Representatives committee report on Iran’s nuclear capability is “outrageous and dishonest” in trying to make a case that Tehran’s program is geared toward making weapons, a senior official of the UN nuclear watchdog has said.

The letter, obtained by a news agency outside a 35-nation board meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency, says the report is false in saying Iran is making weapons-grade uranium at an experimental enrichment site, when it has in fact produced material only in small quantities that is far below the level that can be used in nuclear arms.

The letter, which was first reported on by US daily, also says the report erroneously says that IAEA chief Mohamed ElBaradei removed a senior nuclear inspector from the team investigating Iran’s nuclear program “for concluding that the purpose of Iran’s nuclear program is to construct weapons.”

As for the thread, even if Iran is trying to make nuke, its good for them because evil of Zionism is long time enemy of Iran and the recent incidents have proved that going nuclear is the only way today to save yourself from the evil of Zionism.

Re: Is Iran developing a clandestine nuclear weapons program?

okay, you were talking about electricitythru nuclear power in 1st post and not a nuclear weapon, correct?

Re: Is Iran developing a clandestine nuclear weapons program?

I will rephrase my statement. Yes, iran is developing a clandestine nuclear "weapons" program , apart from nuclear "energy (electricity)" program.

Re: Is Iran developing a clandestine nuclear weapons program?

actually they do need nuclear energy, but they dont need nuclear weapons. and while the corporate media would like us all to believe that its easy to go from nuclear power to nuclear weapons, thats not the truth, and infact even though i took a very rudimentary politics and weapons course where we discussed the making of nuclear weapons, even I know (though am not even a physics major) that it takes a whole new kind of machine, ability, skills, knowledge, money etc, to be able to make weapons.

Iran does need nuclear energy, they have power outages all the time. and they want to have nuclear energy to be able to that. being dependant on oil also means they would be dependant on the technology from the US and other such countries to find, draw out and refine that oil.

France, and i think other modern western nations have resorted to nuclear energy b/c its better and less polluting then other forms of energy. although ofcourse in case of leak its bad news, but thats true for any other source of energy as well.

While Iran would be violating international law by making nuclear weapons (for those who are too young or dont read much - this is b/c Iran unlike Israel, Pakistan etc signed on by its own free will to the NPT - therefore they can not now violate it by not making nuclear weapons) however they have the right to make nuclear energy which is exactly what they are doing, and need to do. They should not have to stop it b/c of the bullying of a few other states, whose only motive for even creating such suspicion is access to Irani oil, occupation and oppression of muslims. iran hapens to be one of the few muslim countries that had a revoultion (i think in fact its the only muslim country) and overthrew its opressive west catering royalty. Pakistan with its weapons etc is not able to shrug off its US friendly dictator Musharraf.
