i think prince and light bearer, u are presenting your perspectives, correctly, but are opinionated about them.
in religion, there is balance - prayer time, and rest time,
earning and spending time with family , marriage and spiritual obligations - balanced.
so, i don’t see how religion can be superseding humanity. ithink they are link to the same chain of living a life of piety
at least from Islamic way of leading a balanced life as a believing follower of our faith, I think that within the discipline it has outlined for us, in alls spheres of our lives, we are freer than anyone else, to do what we want, as long as it is not violating the life constructive guidance rules laid out for us --> (for issues related to personal life in having personal, spiritual, intellectual & socio-economic stability of the people or individuals within the social systems of an ‘Islamic’ state, to the direction in which spirituality take place and is maintained (btw – not to please Allah or offer it something, but to ask for its mercy and protection for our own good), to conduct of business, to administering law in private and public matters, running a state & so on and so forth…besides making sure that we accept and take Allah Almighty’s status as omnipotent.
We live in an age where wars are being waged in the name of 'humanity'...
Religious piety and humanity go hand-in-hand, and resemble each other to a large degree...and both take a back seat to personal interest, or to be fair...personal needs.
Why do you think Buddhism cannot makes you a good humanatarian? Buddhism may not be a good religion to run the country as Islam is but Buddhists are more humane then us. Go figure.
Those who do nothing can do no wrong. That, though, is also the very basis for coping out of life.
I have yet to hear of a 'humne' way to deal with existential and external threats. Conflict is humane in that it is a part of human nature. But then, humane behavior has little to do with how humans actually are. In this sense, the concept of humanity is as dogmatic and non-tangible as anything else in religions.
Our only real desire to be humane may in fact be slefish...and here I cite the so-called golden rule...we treat others well only so that we can have that kindness repaid.
Religion for the sake of securing eternal pleasures in the afterlife is the ultimate selfish act (that people confuse with piousness or spirituality).
To treat others with golden rule is the guideline since we know how we want to be treated so that means we should know how to treat others. I have never heard it used so as to expect to be treated with kindness.
Humanistic - having a strong interest or concern for human welfare, values, and dignity - is not necessarily part of religion. It should be, but I know of many 'religious' people who only have those concerns for their own and the rest of the world can go to hell.
Religion is for the sake of God, the only true pleasure being in His presence. Do not fault us if you are incapable of processing allegory.

Do we? Would you like an army roving around in your neighborhood treating you like crap?
The golden rule is directly related to 'live and let live'...there is nothing wrong with that sentiment, even if it is for selfish reasons... reciprocosity is always for selfish reasons...but it's also fair. And so it's hardly unjust or somehow negative...

I've scene rather inhumane things being done in the name of Humanistic pursuits....so, really....why fault religion?
Human behavior is all that is 'real'...I suppose you can find reasons to excuse bad behavior in whatever ideology one espouses...but the fact is, we are what we are...
If there is one thing I have no faith in, it's humans...
