If my memory serves me right, in the past, it mainly used to be old folks using hukkah. However, now I hear many places/restaurants are equipped with hukkah facilities both in Pakistan and Canada.
I also often see many guppies sharing stories about their sheesha parties and posting pictures.
Is this a new fad or has it been around forever and has been just as popular in the past as it is now?
Is there even a difference between hukkah and sheesha?

Sheesha is a modern version of hukkah, it basically comes in diff. fruity flavors & is much less harmfull than the old hukkah which our ancestors use to smoke.
Arite enough said, lemme go n smoke a Mint sheesha.

Its not a tobacco base thing to do.
In fact the essence burned on a single charcoal is Strawbary, Apple, Pear, Orage and few exotics flavour leaves used as a tobacco substitute ,, so chill guys ,, its not a smoke!

The Desi Hukkah from Pakistan is much stonger then Sheesha, as there is raw tobacco in it.
The Sheesha is the middle-eastern version of Hukkah which is served with a little tobacco, Apple or any other fruit or even rose patels. That make it much lighter then Hukkah
Beaware that there are people who consume other stuff in it also. Even I notice some restaurents are offerring it with .............

'new' ? no its been there forever.. its just lately, now its becoming the 'hangout, place to chill' place.. (like that timmiez subculture, its not sheesha)..
give it another year or two.. u mite like it :-)

faizy, lol in a few years I might like it? Bhai, I stay clear of all such things. Do larkian even do sheesha? I thought it was more of a guy thing.

I like the mint and apple flavored ones so far! I cannot do it for a very long time - as in smoke the whole sheesha all by myself. After a few smokes I am good to go. It is just fun and nothing else. I cannot take tobacco at all but the fruity ones are fun.

Also, what are the positive outcomes of smoking sheesha?
Don't you feel nasty if you're doing it outside and the mouthpieces aren't cleaned properly?

Yeah the ones that you see most of us smoking are the tobacco less ones.
They give you your own plastic mouth pieces so no worries :-)
Positive outcome - None really. It is just fun.

Its quite tasty actually ,, each "Sheeshar" (lol) get a hygine packed plastic nozzle that he or she uses to inhale , and retains it when passes the pipe to the other "sheeshar" (I like the sound of it already - LOL)

I thought it'd be like smoking or something that makes you feel good for a little while, or like coke that gives you caffine rush.

Sheesha puffing public is quite a common sight in labenon, Egypt, Tunisia, libya and most of the middle east.
Specially in Lebanon its usually out on the patio of the 'french style' cafes and excellent over a discussion or just making good friends,,,, either gender,,:D

I used to smoke huqqah every now and then just for fun everytime I visited my grandfather’s village but the first time I tried sheesha was when I was attending the Karachi guppy meet in 2004 and Decent Munda, Janwar, Sober bacha and a few others brought sheesha and I tried it. I must say, it was different and I enjoyed it

but from experience the best sheesha is from the little crummy hole in the wall places.
But thats NYC i suppose.
