Angraizi gaarhi nahee thee, engineering terms istimaal huwe howe hein ... siraf ...

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

yes.

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

:bummer: I thought it was funny. Also, it’s based on a true story but the stuff about the girl is fiction.

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

Lagtha hai aapka spell check vacation mein hai

gaarhi nahin - gehri.

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

Lagta haiy aapki thesaurus ko petrol aur teeli ki zaroorat haiy.

gaarhi = thick, viscous (opposite of runny)

The 'r' in gaarhi is not your regular r but rather the 'r' found in kapray (clothes).
I've noticed Indians tend to use a 'd' for that 'r'.
For example 'boy' would be spelt in roman hindi as Ladka, whereas pakistanis would spell it as Larka.

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

Ab aaya samajh mein, Cheegum! Aap logon ko spelling hee naheen aathi - d ko r kaise kar baithay?

Did not know gaadhi meant viscous. Chaliye, humnay Blessed ko pass kar diya

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

Oh and its not lagtha or aathi but rather lagta and aati. There really is no need for that extra 'h' sound.

And yes your d's are our r's. The purists like to type that special r (your d) as a capital R.

So boys and girls becomes laRkay laRkiaN.

And the capital N in laRkiaN represents N without the ending emphasis. In urdu that N without the ending emphasis is called 'Noon Ghunna".

And don't even try to make the 'Gh' sound because i've seen no Indian to date execute that sound properly.

That and 'Kh'. I love the way Indian media butchers the name Khan.

So yeah.

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

^ hey - that was very educational - I always used to wonder at capital R and N.

Believe me, I think I can do a decent job of Gh and Kh sounds (but maybe because I am biased)

another thing, it is gandhi, ok, not Ghandi - I have seen at least 2 people mis-spell the Mahathma (with an h!)

and it is Gambhir, not Ghambir!

This was fun, Chhegum. Cheers.

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

^No wonder I’m always confused on how I should pronounce the hind/urdu words..coz I have Indian friends and a Pakistani hubby :bummer:

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

^ pronounce urdu with Indian friends and Hindi with Mr. Khan

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

^:rotfl: I did speak to him in mumbai slang, and Mr. Khan jst gave me a strange look and said “Larkiyan aise baath karthe hai?”

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

:smack:

Baath nahi, baat.
Karthe nahi, karti.

Southie pakistanis always say Gandhi, one would have to be really ignorant to say ghandi. Same goes for gambhir.

There’s a very amusing (for pakistanis anyway) thread from days ago about some pronunciation conflicts. I’ll post link in a few.

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

Sorry…yeh meri boori aadat hai..I always mix up the genders and the pronounciation :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Is Hell Endothermic or Exothermic?

No your genders were perfect. I was referring to the extra h’s. Khair.

So here’s the thread i was talking about. Sorry indian folks but it is quite funny :hehe:
