If you really loved him you'd send him a gift without asking others, just shows how this shallow this relationship is.
We don't have all the information. We don't know how often the poster's significant other asks for gifts or even what kind of gifts he wants. It's unreasonable to assume that the person who is not sending a gift is shallow. There could be various reasons why a person is not or cannot send a gift.
Also....keep in mind.....that IF (i'm not saying that this applies to the poster's situation).......but IF one is frequently asking for gifts/material things as a sign of affection......then that in itself can be a sign of shallowness.
