Is habitual debating an addiction?

More than often on the pages of different forums,

a debate so worthless in substance is done with a religious fervor. But never in my experience, I have seen a debater accepting a defeat.

The philosophy has always been, if you can not kill a “post” you have an option to kill the poster.

Are we all addict?

Let’s debate…

Re: Is habitual debating an addiction?

:bummer: I have accepted defeat … I have a few times on various threads …

But I am stuck on certain topics that I will not budge on and I will debate until I’m blue in the face …

I think the term “habitual debating” is just a nice way of saying “addicted debater” … So really what we asking here is “Does debating make us addicted” … I would say “yes” …

Although most of what I say has to be repeated in different ways, usually because people fail to understand me most of the time … even when I am quite clear … I don’t know why people just don’t say “well I don’t agree with that” and some people do just say that …

Many of our guppans say that and some of our guppies too … Such an angle is good because 1) It shows they have understood what you are saying and 2) It ends the discussion.

When people claim to have an answer that everyone should easily accept that is when it gets interesting … or lingering … also when people ridicule and lie even about another position it can cause longer debates and more sophisticated exchanges … usually for no greater reason that to have taken “revenge” … for their beliefs to have been attacked … It is far better to just say … ok that is cool you believe that … I’ll believe what I believe and we can kiss and make up … or go on our merry ways …

Re: Is habitual debating an addiction?

Thank you Psyah, all I can say is that you could have written many good books had you not been debating on this forum.

Have you ever thought that there is a time to say " Lakum Deen o Kum Valyadeen" to a debater who is not willing to accept an argument clear like a crystal.
