There’s quick-spreading talk of considering Gollum/Smeagol (from LOTR 2) for an oscar. And although it was Andy Serkis (remember Sallah from Indiana Jones) who provided the voice and movements, it was those facial expressions that blew me away!
I would strongly be in favor of considering it. Although it’s a CGI creature we see, it were the efforts of Serkis and animation team that created the captivating performance. The effort has to be recognised.
I dont this Andy worked in Indiana Jones.. You might want to check IMDB on that.
It was John Rhys-Davies (Gimli) who played Sallah in the Last crusade!dayng, something had given me the impresson that the same actor was responsible for Gimli and Gollum. Thanks for pointin that.
Gollum is my favorite character in the movie. Great acting/animation. Everyone I know has stated they like his character best in the film. Not into television awards shows, but great job nonetheless.

Gollum was the suprising affect in the second part, made the movie interesting, when i first saw the creature, I hated it :-/ but now i think he is the best character in the movie so far!
