Re: Is going to a massaj parlour a sin,in different cultures?
your doing something manly.
Re: Is going to a massaj parlour a sin,in different cultures?
ummm right..
Re: Is going to a massaj parlour a sin,in different cultures?
I thought 90% of them were brothels...
Re: Is going to a massaj parlour a sin,in different cultures?
I dont think that is a sin as long as you are not going to places that provide " happy endings" there are 2 kinds of places and NO Deeba not all of them are brothels, infact most of them are legitimate, However coming back to your question ARLEITTER it also depends on the reasoning of your visit as well.
It would depend upon your intentions for going to a massage parlour. If your intentions are not wrong, then it should be fine.
^Just request someone of the same gender as you to give you the massage......so that it'll be more appropriate.
If you're don't feel comfortable, then you can consider other alternatives. You can purchase an electrical massager or even a massaging chair. Or.........go to Bed Bath & Beyond..........and sit on their massaging chairs for a few minutes. It's free, lol.
Try a warm bath.......pain-relievers..........hot-water bottle........get someone from your family to massage you if you don't feel comfortable with strangers doing it at a parlour.
In other cultures..........massage parlours might not be such a big deal. For example.....in Western culture........where its not frowned upon to interact and mingle freely or unchaperoned with non-mahrams......there are no qualms about being massaged by complete strangers. In desi culture.........and Islam has an influence..........mingling with non-mahrams let alone getting massages from one is frowned upon.
And......culture asides.......with some people it's simply a matter of personal preference. I know some people who DON'T even like getting a massage from their family members because they're just generally not touchy-feely personalities.

I totally agree wid dat !!

I agreed with Health Minister :D:
Re: Is going to a massaj parlour a sin,in different cultures?
Most are not brothels.
Re: Is going to a massaj parlour a sin,in different cultures?
It's kind of like the issue of whether or not it's okay for a woman to get treated by a male doctor.
Well, sometimes you don't have the option of choosing the professional's gender. What if you have a serious medical condition and the only doctor who has the best expertise to treat you is one who is of the OPPOSITE gender????? Should you forsake your health in order to avoid being treated by a non-mahram????? That's not reasonable because Islam ALSO says that your body as rights over you.
Now, if you are in a situation where there are a VARIETY of physicians to choose from......then you can always make the effort to select a doctor of the same gender as you.
In the end..........it depends upon your intention or neeyat. Is your intention to seek pain relief through the massage? Or is your intention to seek an orgasm? If there are a variety of masseurs.......of both genders.........ask for one of the same gender.
ALSO...............if you ALWAYS have an achy-breaky body.........then perhaps your solution would be not a massage parlor..........but a doctor........who can tell you why you're always in pain. It could be caused by stress........and there are less expensive treatments for that.

Oh, ok sorry, I've never been to one, just driven past places in London with neon lighting and signs with what types of girls work there.. Also cos the OP put 'treatment' in inverted commas it made me think twice... Anyway, sorry to anyone who was offended..
Btw, serious question, would most married ppl here be ok with their other half having a 'legit' massage? Even tho I'm pretty liberal I don't think I'd allow mine to lay there with just a towel while some woman did it, surely there are male masseurs that could do the job just as well.. Last yr a footballer friend of mine got a groin injury and told me how he needed physio and even tho he's a professional if I'd been his gf there'd be no way I'd have allowed a woman to treat him (unless it was an emergency, he'd just come off the pitch and he couldn't move or something or there were no men available to do it)..

See, now that is a totally different thing, as far as it being Haram goes i dont think it is, however if you ask me if my better half (whoever and whenever its going to be) was getting one done from opposite sex i wont be comfortable either, now u can call me possessive, conservative or narrow minded. But then again i dont like getting myself massaged by a guy either i would rather have it other way ;) :D .

Re: Is going to a massaj parlour a sin,in different cultures?
Yes, different cultures see it differently. The day they open a desi massage parlour in Darfur that is where i am going daily. Happy endings not mandatory :D

Re: Is going to a massaj parlour a sin,in different cultures?
You know I went to one M.P on Saturday night and I was offered a `full treatment' which I vehemently refused .So I was thinking about it....
Full treatment ....yes...S%x .........................................and that was by an S.E Asian girl...........I doid not want that ..... :) :D
Again the same M.P had an alm ost aged woman and she had done a massaj quite professionally.........................................:)
In singapore it is legitimate .but do not know abt the other activities such as `hapy endings',whether they are legitimate ...........

LOL - I am too slow here among ALL of you.
so the original topic was just about getting treatment, and I thought the original poster was very pure in his thinking and just meant treatment only.
but boy oh boy, somewhere along the thread the treatment turned into "happy ending"
beats me - lol - I would still be answering about treatments not "treatments".
:o - why do guys only think about s%x?

Re: Is going to a massaj parlour a sin,in different cultures?
My standard for a legit massage place is: would you send your sister there?
I mean, there are massage therapists in my area who are attached to medical clinics. They work with people who have had car accidents or are recovering from pregnancy. They even have baby massage therapists for preemies. I think there is nothing wrong with their services.
OTOH, there are those brothel types, usually staffed with tiny asian girls. i would definitely be upset if my hubby went there and got those endings people talk about. And even my American girlfriends would agree with me; i'm not just being a conservative pakistani here.
