Here are Gilanis two statements. You decide if he knows what he is talking about.
Gilani said that there was no understanding with the US government for granting permission for the drone attacks. ‘It is a matter of the sovereignty of the country…’
He said that US vice-president elect Joe Biden …played a major role in …removing former President Musharraf’s military uniform.
So if Pakistan was sovereign, then how come a senator of another country can remove our Ex-president’s Kupray?
Can someone pl. tell our PM that sovereignty means “absolute right of PAKISTANIS to change their leadership”?
How would he feel if Joe Biden wants to remove Zardari’s Sherwani?
KARACHI: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has reiterated that the Pakistani soil would not be allowed to be used for terrorist activities.
The Prime Minister was talking to reporters after performing the launching of the first Small Tanker-Cum-utility Ship (STUS) at the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works here on Monday.
He further stated that Pakistan is a responsible and a powerful nation and does not need anyone’s crutches.
Gilani said that there was no understanding with the US government for granting permission for the drone attacks. ‘It is a matter of the sovereignty of the country and we would not allow anything that affects the sovereignty of our country.’
He said that US vice-president elect Joe Biden has been supportive of Pakistan and had played a major role in the restoration of democracy in Pakistan and in removing former President Musharraf’s military uniform.
The Prime Minister said that they have been in the government for eight months only whereas their mandate is for five years’ period. In eight months’ time miracles should not be expected, he said.
Re: Is Gilani trying to be Jonejo (or worse a Dan Quayle)
There we go! Just when we have a guy trying to get out of the whole western nexus, despite being a puppet and is getting admiration from the 'true' people of his country, these faarun elements are quickly labeling him insane!!
For your information, Junejo was a puppet initially, but went down in history as a hero, after he signed the Geneva Accord after Zia's permission, and asked for an inquiry into the Ojhri Camp incident. This is why he was removed by that dictator Zia. Too bad we didnt have a person with the same Junjejo like span in the time when the Zia of the 00s, Mr. Musharraf was busy wrecking the country's foundations.

Mushrraf the dictator was an American puppet & Pakistanis had no say in him coming to power.
Did you mean to say "Pakistan was not sovereign under Prez Musharraf, but now PM Gilani has made Pakistan sovereign"?. Just trying to clarify this.
To all other posters, no need to get bent over this. There were two "contradictory" statements in the same news piece. Discuss those if you like and stick to the topic please.
Many middle class group from lahore to Rawalpindi who think they are educated do not understand Pakistan Politics. Mr Zardari is way different first Zardari is not COAS so that mean he does not have absolute power. Zardari power comes from vote of People, so he has to please people not Punjab Army. Two hundered thousand people where in Ghari Khuda Bux on the first Anv of BB, thats a die hard PP vote. Their could be no difference between Gillani and Zardari because they are politician from same party. Most of the time in Pakistan it is presidentancy house which has been center of consiparcy. Pakistan Army report to President and not PM and that is the reason it was agreed even before BB landed in Pakistan that she would go for senate seat and than for Chairman of senate which would make her the president of Pakistan. And that is what Mush was not agree to.
Above discion was made in light of President Lagarhi.

I can see your punjab-centric hatred, but in last part of your reply ... i can just laugh "one more theory" ... ;)

Did you ask any local jiyalas? I am sure they will agree with Gilani that the two statements are not contradictory, probably they are his target audience anyway.
