Playing on luck, wasting money in search of a lucky break is the reason why it's haraam. And it destroys people who get addicted.

it gets addicting.......and harm it does because the gambler has to pay/lose money a lot.....and hard earned money can't be enough......so leads to wrong methods of generating funds.......which harms everybody..

Gambling can turn into a harmful addiction. Lives have been destroyed , families got devastated , divorces have resulted because of this addiction. I have seen people lose land and jewelery to gambling that has been in the family for generations. It doesnt just affect the person gambling, it affects the entire family, and the next generations as well. Its a dangerous addiction.

There's a reason why casinos are in business; the overwhelming majority of gamblers do not possess the savvy to realise when to quit and how to play their odds. The odds are stacked in favour of the house and the addiction is insatiable. I suppose that is why its harmful. I know a couple of people who actually make a handsome living off poker but they're probably like one in a million!
