Preference for fair skin is characteristic of indic/desi cultures. In Pashtun, dardic, tajik societies you wont find this obsession with skin colour.

You are right. One loves what they dont have. Like the Whites do sun tanning on the beach as they like darker skin. ![]()

Skin colour is very much a class issue and it's not just in Asia, it's always been an indicator of person's class, profession and background from the times ancient Greeks, Romans, Arabs to medieval Europe to current day Asia.

Oh yes they do! Not all pashtuns are milky fair.

Before British Mughals started this. During Mughal era, a fair complexion means person belongs to Mughals and Mughals themselves referred to locals as ‘black’ and ‘slaves’.
