i’ll be traveling with Etihad Airways for the first time. i would like to ask those of you who have flown with Etihad if they are strict with individual weight of suitcases? do they allow bags, weighing a little over 50 pounds [say 3-5 pounds], be be checked in without incurring extra charges?
also, are they rigid with weight of the carry-on bag?
any tips will be appreciated…thankoo :)**

I think it really depends on who is checking u in...when I flew with them I had a few pounds extra they let it slide..its mostly because of the destination that you fly to..how the rules are on the other side regarding their health and safety.
Like when you fly to Canada..they really strict with it..because of the health and safety rules of Canada..that is what I was told by one of my friends who worked for Etihad.
If u r traveling on business class they l leave 1 or 2 kg not more than tht I always travel through ethiad their service is amazing once I had full 30 kgs n they put a tag of heavy on my suit case :)

**wow! amazing! you are at least one happy flyer. :) i think aviation industry allows up to 32 kg but anything over 32 kg the baggage handlers will NOT touch that bag and hence the check-in agent will NOT accept.
ahhh! those days when we could travel with two suitcases, each weighing up to 70 pounds at no charge...now, only a handful of airlines allow 2 bags with 23 kg each. :(**
No 30 kgs per bag allow n ofcourse if 1 ticket thn total 30 kgs whether 1 bag or 2 just divide 30 :)
**oh...i just noticed that you are in the mIddle East and yes the baggage rules are different there. do you like to be living in Dubai? i've heard it's a great place to be! :) how far is Abu Dhabi from Dubai?
KKF , Dubai is a good place to live for a while .. maybe for a few years ... its expensive though .. the biggest challenge is the mausam ... its harsh .. but then all the inside places are well airconditioned so its just the outside activities that you need getting used to .. traffic is a hassle .. a big one .. but from food and luxury perspective , dubai is a heaven , if you manage to get yourself a good job , you are good to go , but an average AED 20-25K isnt really going to help the case ...
Abudhabi is about 2 hours drive away from Dubai .. its a smooth journey .. I used to cover it in an hour and a half but that was literally flying the car rather then driving it :@:
