Its not haram..but its makrooh..not recommended. Prophet SAW said that the shaitan uses his left hand to eat, so a muslim shouldnt use his left hand to eat, since that would mean he is emulating the shaitan.
Actions are judged by intentions....so please explain the word emulating here?
If you are a left handed person or u r using a fork and a knife...I don't see why u can't eat with your left hand.

Boss..like i said..its not haram..its just not recommended. Emulating means to copy something. What you copy is not a problem. Who you copy it from is what makes the difference. We constantly forbid our kids not to copy things that other naughty kids do, because as innocent those actions might be, we just want our kid to be like us, to be a part of our culture. Similarly while eating, using your right hand would mean ur copying Prophets SAW way. We should just try. I didnt mean it was meant to be enforced forcibly, because then it would kill the whole reason.

There has to be some truth to this. In ancient governments (Senate of Romans), all the good guys (or his favorite senators, including Brutes, who ended up killing him) sat on the right side of the Caesar(s).
The terms “Right” and “Left” have been used in literature (classics) to emphasize points, right meaning “noble, or just plain right”, and left as undesirable.
When I was young, my parents emphasized (like all other families in Pakistan or Muslim countries) to eat or drink with right hand. I personally believe it doesn’t make a difference.
In Bangladesh, Muslims eat with their hands, when the right hand has food all over it, they drink water by holding the glass with their left hand, but support the water glass with their right hand just to show respect to the tradition.
A logical statement someone told me that right handed ppl "wash" themselves with the left hand. Lefties "wash" themselves with right hand. Lefties' left hand is therefore more pure/pak and should eat with the left hand.

Its too bad some people take things so literally. Even the British in Canada, forced Native children to eat and write with their right hands. Anything left was 'satanic'. Its really ridiculous.

Its the concept of shaitan. Satan appears in this world in different forms, and entices humans into committing acts that do not conform with the laws of Islam. Some acts are harmless, some are harmful. We avoid the harmful ones because they are harmful, and we avoid the harmless because they are committed by the shaitan, and we wouldnt be wanna associated with him in anyway.
