dont know how's that possible, i think ur confusing an incident in which an Alim ( i dnt remember the name) was presented with a pumpkin from a student in presence of other students. He inquired the student if anyone could recall any Hadees or any authentic detail of Sunnah from any Sahaba about how and in which way did our Prophet (Sallaahu Alaihe Wassallam) ate the pumpkin. None of the students could recall any authentic detail, so the Aalim/teacher who dearly loved Prophet (Sallaahu Alaihe Wassallam) had to return the pumpkin back to student stating that he has never did anything against Sunnah, therefore he cannot eat the pumpkin if he didn't knew what was our Prophet's (Sallaahu Alaihe Wassallam) way of eating a Pumpkin.

Pumpkin might be haram , but if you make halwa of anything it will become halal , because halwa is the most favorite dish of mullah loug.

Possibly assumed to be haram because they carve it during Halloween, and so has come to be associated with a pagan holiday.
That's the only reason I can come up with, if indeed it were haram.

um...in fact i heard Prophet Muhammad PBUH really loved Kaddu...so according to my knowledge its a sunnah.
