Is cremation an option for Muslims, would you consider it.

Re: Is cremation an option for Muslims, would you consider it.

In US, funerals and burials are supposed to be big business like everything else.

Everything costs an arm and a leg there.

It is too expensive even to die there. :slight_smile:

What does everybody think of the Paarsee practice ? Would you opt for it ?

Kaaga sab tunn khaaiyo, so chunn chunn khayyo maas;
Do naina mat khaaiyo, inhain piyaa milan ki aas.

Mumbai has ā€˜Tower of Silence’ for Parsis. Parsis have said that there are few vultures now because of pollution in Mumbai.

Re: Is cremation an option for Muslims, would you consider it.

Interesting.

No offense intended, but I don’t know who to feel sorry for - the vultures or the dead and their next of kin. :smiley:

Aside from being a disturbing way of disposing the dead (at least to me), this must be one of the least expensive. No ?

Re: Is cremation an option for Muslims, would you consider it.

Why is it disturbing ? Burning the body of your loved ones isn’t disturbing ? Burying the body of your loved ones beneath dirt isn’t disturbing ?
Death itself isn’t disturbing ?

It all depends on your belief , and what you believe in automatically becomes acceptable no matter how disturbing it looks to the ones who don’t believe in it.

Agreed.

5 years ago, my Ammi’s tadfeen/burial services (through a Muslim funeral home and a Muslim cemetery) cost $3800…this is in Texas

I prefer myself to be buried. Hell no to cremation.
